Advantages: Effectively covers up blemishes, blends really well,
Disadvantages: Printed writing can rub off the pen
I haven't really used that many concealers before, but early morning starts mean that I do sometimes have dark circles under my eyes. I decided to invest in some concealer so that I look a bit more alive and fresh faced when I get into work. According to all the magazines, YSL Touche Eclat was *the one* to get.
The pen itself is made out of gold coloured metal. The writing and information about the pen is printed on the actual pen, which is good so that you can see it, but the downside to this is that it actually rubs off after you have used the pen quite a lot, which can make it look a little scruffy. Also, since it is made out of quite a soft metal it is also easily scratched.
The pen had a lid which just clicks on and off. Once you take the lid off you can see that there is a little brush attached to the pen, like a small paint brush, and this is what you use to apply the concealer.
In order to get the concealer out, you push the button at the top of the pen, this pushes the concealer out of the bottom of the pen onto the brush. You have to watch out that you don't click too many times though, because once the concealer is out, you can't out it back in again.
I really like the design of the pen, I think it looks really classy and sophisticated. I also like the fact that it is so easy to get the concealer out of the pen, and to apply it.
The pen is available in four colours, which is great because you can get one to suit your skin tone. The different colours are 01: Luminous Radiance, 02: Luminous Ivory, 03: Light Peach and 04: Luminous Toffee. I personally have the Luminous Radiance one. This fits in with my skin tone really well and blends in perfectly.
The brush itself is not enough to blend the concealer in, you simply apply it with the brush and then you have to blend it in with your finger.
I found that the concealer blended in really easily and you couldn't tell that it was there. You don't have to rub too hard to blend it and it doesn't look blotchy, which I have found with some concealers. It really covered up the dark circles under my eyes, and has been really good on the odd spot that I get.
I only have to apply this in the morning and it will last all day, I don't have to re-apply it at all, which is great!
The pen comes in a 2.5ml size (1 oz), even though this doesn't sound like much you don't use a lot each time you apply it so it will last for ages. It does have to be used within 6 months of being opened, though.
The pen is quite widely available in department stores such as Boots and John Lewis, and it is really easy to find online (and you can probably find it for a bit cheaper!) I bought mine from Boots for £22.50.
All in all I thought think this is a wonderful concealer. I like the design of it and I love how it blends in perfectly and fits in with my skin tone. It is quite pricey, but it does last for ages.. and it does what it's meant to do!
Summary: A concealer that works!
