Advantages: Great for delicate, sensitive or traumatised skin.
Disadvantages: TOO gentle for me, I got more spots with this than with my usual stronger cleanser. Expensive
One of the Skin Ceutical products I received as a present was their Gentle Cleanser, and as I use a cleanser day and night to remove dirt and make up from the day, this was the product out of the set I was most eager to try out.
The cleanser came in a 240ml bottle, which is pretty plain, being white with a black lid, which you press down on one side in order for the other side to tip up and allow you to dispense the lotion. The cleanser does NOT have a pump as pictured in the photo, I'm guessing that's an old design.
The cleanser is pale in colour and is very nearly scentless to my nose, although there is a faint aroma of oranges about it due to orange oil being one of the ingredients. Still, I found the smell to be very subtle, which is good as I want to smell of my perfume, not of my cleanser all day.
To use this, you just squeeze out a little of the fairly thin lotion, and rub it onto your face and neck using small circular motions. The excess can then be removed with a damp flannel or rinsed off with water.
Because the cleanser is designed to be used by people with sensitive or traumatized skin, I found that although it made my skin feel very soft and pleasant afterwards, I did't feel that it had enough strength to it. I imagine this would be perfect for people with very sensitive skin, who need an incredibly gentle cleanser to avoid irritation, but for me, I found that this just wasn't powerful enough; after a few days of foregoing my usual, more hardcore cleanser in favour of this Skin Ceuticals product, I found my skin to be a bit more pimply than usual.
I waited a few more days, but when my skin still didn't clear up, I switched back to my usual cleanser, which improved my skin in a few days. I do think that this is a good product in general, but it's not suited to my skin type, especially when it normally costs around £25 per bottle. I will stick to stronger cleansers.
Summary: An expensive product that was too gentle for my skin
