      Very helpful

Great slow cooker for healthy meals without effort

As we are both working there's not a lot of time left for cooking meals and the fact that we often
work opposite shifts from each other makes it even harder to get both of us in one place at the
same time plus food on the table. As my boyfriend frequently works til late at night or the early
hours in the morning I hate him having to come home and fix his own dinner but if I'm working
the next day it isn't practical for me to stay up half the night waiting to cook his dinner either.

We've had the Morphy Richards slow cooker for around 5 months now and I find it really handy
when we're both working as I can chuck the ingredients in this turn it on low,set the time
and leave it to cook while I work. This means we come home to a ready cooked meal which
just needs to be served up and likewise I can leave food in it so it's warm and ready to eat
if my boyfriend is working a late night shift. Due to making larger portions there's always a
selection of home cooked food in the freezer which is better than eating microwave pre
packed ready meals if we don't have time to cook.

The Morphy Richards slow cooker has a 5 litre capacity and unlike most slow cookers is a
conical shape which is wider at the top and narrower at the bottom. The shape means it
takes up slightly less room on a worktop than the usual oval slow cookers and also allows
for you to cook smaller amounts if required as there's less surface area on the bottom of
      the dish.

The cooker is easy to use and comes with clear instructions the timer is digital
and allows for between 3 hours on the high setting and up to 10 hours on the low setting
and there is also a stay warm function that lasts for 2 hours. I usually use this on the low
setting and haven't found it cooks unevenly or burns food to the side of the dish so it's
reliable and easy to clean up afterwards which is great when both of you are working
      long hours.

The outer part of this is stainless steel with a removable ceramic cooking pot and a glass
lid although the outer steel part does get quite hot during cooking it's not hot enough
to burn you and both the side and lid handles stay cool enough to touch. The ceramic
pot and glass lid are dishwasher safe if you're lucky enough to have one. The only
slight downside of this one is the metal outer seems quite thin and I reckon it could dent
quite easily which hasn't been a problem so far for us as it lives on the worktop but
might be if you were taking it in and out of a cupboard constantly.

I use this for making soups, stews, curries and casseroles and it's large enough to feed
around 6 people depending on the dish. If there's a few people eating I just remove
the ceramic dish and place it on a heat proof mat on the table and let everyone help
themselves. This also came with a recipe booklet which includes recipes for everything
from soups, casseroles, goulash and curry to cakes and creme brulee although I've
never got round to trying any of them due to never having the right ingredients handy.
My usual method of chuck whatever in and hopefully it will work usually turns out quite
well for us but the booklet is handy to give you ideas and an idea of cooking times.

Using this is a lot easier and less time consuming than cooking the dishes in a pot on
the stove as there's no need to watch over it while it cooks. You obviously still need
to do the preparation of chopping stuff up and I prefer to brown red meats before
putting them in but after that you can just leave the cooker to get on with it leaving
you free to do something more fun than watching a pot.

This is the first slow cooker I've owned so I've nothing to compare it to but so far I'm
happy with my purchase and wish I'd bought one ages ago. I paid £39 for this but it's
currently available on Amazon for £25 which is a bargain compared to the price I paid
or the £50 plus that many high street stores are charging for it.
