Advantages: Frothy milk in seconds
Disadvantages: None
There are three ways of making a delicious cappuccino at home: You can, at great expense, buy a special cappuccino coffee maker, you can use a manual milk frother – a sealed jug with a plunger, or you can produce an amazing cappuccino almost instantly with an Aerolatte. The Aerolatte is a superb gadget. It is about the size of an electric toothbrush and its finish is gleaming chrome. It comes complete with two AA batteries (which apparently last about 150 uses). The Aerolatte can be used to froth either hot or cold milk and any kind of milk including soya can be used. To make a cappuccino you fill one third of a mug with milk and heat it in the microwave for about 45 seconds. The milk should ideally be about 60 deg. C because boiling milk evidently destroys its ability to froth. When the milk is heated insert the Aerolatte whisk into the milk and stir slowly for about 10 seconds until you have a mug full of frothy milk. You then pour some strong coffee through the frothy milk and for a professional finish sprinkle with chocolate, cocoa or cinnamon. I found that even instant coffee tastes good when transformed into frothy coffee. I was very impressed with the perfect result I achieved at my first attempt. I have, since then, impressed lots of other people with my perfect cappuccinos and most thought they had been made with one of those expensive coffee makers. You can of course use the Aerolatte to make wonderful frothy chocolate drinks, cocoa and horlicks etc. Using ice cold milk it produces excellent milkshakes (they recommend using syrup for milkshakes) and iced coffee. Another suggestion given in the instructions is to try a fresh fruit juice mixed with milk for an original and healthy drink. With the excellent results produced it is not at all surprising that the Aerolatte was voted the best gadget by the BBC at the Ideal Home Show London, 2000 nor that Lavazza have endorsed it for their espresso blend – Crema e Gu
sto. The RRP of the Aerolatte is £14.95 but I bought mine on special offer at £9.95 inc. pp from www.wheesh.com through www.bargains.co.uk . (You can find it under Home/Kitchen/Cooking Utensils). It was delivered the following day – a most impressive service.
