Advantages: The only way to make a proper toastie, cheap

Disadvantages: Too cheap as the quality is also cheap.

I purchased this sandwich toaster several years ago and it has been replaced now but am able to review it so other possible purchasers are aware of what it's like.
Currently being sold in Argos at an amazingly low price of £4.54. It is from their own value range but even so this is a very low price for an electrical item.

This is a basic kitchen appliance no fancy knobs or buttons just the knob of butter you may want to spread over the bread. You can get toaster bags these day which you place into a normal toaster but I have yet to try this but think I prefer this traditional method.

It is lightweight with white plastic on the outside with a handle which has a fastening clip on it. Four stoppers on the base keep it directly off the surface. On opening the toaster you will find smooth black plastic triangle shapes, four on the bottom part and four on the lid part. You place a sandwich over two triangle shapes and when the lid is pressed down the shapes on the top push it down giving the toastie a unique shape and also making it easy to cut when ready.

When you plug this into the socket and switch the plug to on then it comes straight on as no buttons need pressing. There is a light on it and when that changes then the toaster has reached it's temperature ready to put the sandwich into it.

You need to make a normal sandwich ready to toast, any fillings you like but my all time favourite has to be a cheese and tomato toastie, the way the cheese melts and tomato tastes is great. It is always best to spread a small amount of butter on the outside of the sandwich as this helps it to brown nicely.
When everything is ready place the sandwiches in and shut the lid down, You use the clip to shut it tight but this can be tricky if the sandwich is quite full. We had only used ours for a matter of weeks and this clip broke off but Argos were good to allow as to exchange it and we got a better quality one. Also I found that dependent on the size of bread used then sometimes the crusts would be hanging out from the edges.
There's no set time for them to cook but takes approx 3 minutes, once the sandwich is golden in colour you know it is ready. Be warned that the filling can still be scorching hot even when the outside has cooled down especially cheese ones. Whilst cooking the outside of the toaster gets warm but not boiling hot as you may expect.
Don't forget to turn this off at the wall socket when finished using it.

Now I wouldn't personally recommend this toaster due to my experience of it breaking and having seen other reviews not giving it a good rating. I say spend a bit more money and get one of better quality.

Summary: Seems like a bargain but not when/ if you have to replace it.
