The plastic of the different tiers is fairly basic looking as is the lid which can be slightly off centre when placed on the top however it does work very well. Never having used a steamer before I was keen to buy a 'value for money' version to make sure I would get my use out of it. I have a young baby who had recently started weaning and steaming seems to be the healthiest way to retain the vitamins in fruits and vegetables when cooking.
