      amazing!!!

This steamer is AMAZING! Was bought as a present and its the only steamer I have ever needed, has lasted about 2 years with everyday usage! The vegetables I steamed tasted amazing and completley changed my opinion on healthy food, compared to boiling this steamer makes my vegetables taste much nicer and keep there colour. It also pings when the timer is up which is such a great advantage as Im very easily distracted and dont always remember to look at the time but the ping instantly reminds me! This steamer stopped working lately, id put vegetables in and set the steamer but when it pinged the food was still half frozen/uncooked. I know this is from my essessive usage! Have recently bought a new steamer and its nothing compared to this one, upsetting though that I cant find it in any argos stores anymore, would buy again in a pinch! if you see this steamer buy it!!!!

        Buy it!

I've never used a steamer before so we wanted to buy one which was cheap and I could 'practice' with. This one was only about £10, and has been more than well worth the money. The bowl are a decent size and you can fit loads of veggies in. The steamer takes no time at all to set up, simply pour your water in, tip your veggies into the bowls, and turn it on. The timer is very easy to use, you simply turn the dial and it tells you when it's done. It also comes with a white bowl to cook things such as rice in, I haven't tried this yet as the reccommended times seem quite long, but it's a nice addition and I have used it for things such as peas which would roll down the holes in the normal bowl sections. I've also used the steamer to cook fish & chicken (takes quite a while but it's worth it.) Everything I've cooked in it has turned out lovely, it never ever goes wrong, and it's great knowing the veg is packed full of vitamins and minerals which haven't been lost by boiling. You really can taste the difference. Overall it's very easy to use, it definately won't be something you buy and stick in the back of the cupboard.

A great steamer, healthy eating at an amazing price.

Never having used a steamer before I was keen to buy a 'value for money' version to make sure I would get my use out of it. I have a young baby who had recently started weaning and steaming seems to be the healthiest way to retain the vitamins in fruits and vegetables when cooking. The Argos value range 3 bowl steamer was £10.69 at the time of my purchase however I have noticed it has recently gone down in price to £8.69 bargain! The steamer itself has three tiers so you can cook several things at the same time, there is also a rice tray for cooking either rice or rice pudding. The plastic of the different tiers is fairly basic looking as is the lid which can be slightly off centre when placed on the top however it does work very well. There is a timer at the bottom so you can set it for the food that you are cooking, the timer is a dial type so if you happen to knock it even when the steamer is not on it will tick away quietly until the time is up. This is not a problem though. For storage the three tiers and the rice tray all fit inside one another, so there is just the main base unit and the largest tier to find storage for. I have cooked all different types of fruits, veg and also given rice pudding a go and was very impressed, the fruits and veg really do retain their flavour when steamed rather than boiled. The instruction booklet included a number of different foods with a guide to the time they take to cook and also states that you can cook meat and fish in this too. Does exactly what it says, great value for money, an excellent addition to my kitchen.
