... excellent stuff in it's ranks, and even when an item turns out to be a useless object to take up bin space, it's worth the risk for the small price you pay. This toaster is a unbelievable £4.96. Less than a fiver! Four loaves of quality bread! So I parted with my money with low expectations, it's certainly lived up to them. A basic card box with a simple picture of the machine is how it comes to you. No plastic packing just card inserts which are all recyclable. The box however has a higher build quality than the...more

Introduction When I moved into my new home a couple of months ago I had a list of things I needed to buy and kitchenware was a high priority on my list. I already had a few essentials; a toaster, kettle, microwave, cutlery and plates etc but I didn't have the budget to buy a cooker straight away and wanted something that would make quick and convenient snacks but at a low price. A toasted sandwich maker seemed like a great idea at the time, I've owned a couple in the past and knew what to expect from one and the thoughts of a tasty ham and cheese toastie appealed to me so I looked online, saw a 'value' one from Argos priced at £5.99 and decided to part with my ...  Read the complete review

After recently seeing an episode of Man v's Food, it reminded me of my over fondness for toasted cheese sandwiches. So craving some lactose goodness, I hot-footed it to the kitchen, sliced some cheese, got out the ham, put it on the bread and popped it in the sandwich toaster borrowed from my parents. It didn't work. Cursing, I left to go to shops hungry and returned with the cheapest of cheap sandwich toasters. Here is what I have found out about this pretty rubbish product from the Argos value range. --Deadly Cheese Blisters!-- We all know the situation, much like the hidden lip-burner qualities of the McDonalds apple pie, the toasted cheese ...  Read the complete review

Argos Sandwich Toaster: Cheap, but not cheerful sandwich toaster! (528 words)

I've been eating toasted sandwiches for over a decade and after my last Breville Panini Press failed to turn on after using it for 8 years, I began searching for a replacement. I was quite pleased with my Breville, therefore I went in search for another Breville, though I was left really disappointed because no other Breville matched the quality of my previous model. For this reason I thought of purchasing a very low budget sandwich maker until I found a more suitable one as it was proving hard to find any good sandwich toaster whatever brand it was! So off to Argos I went and purchased the £5.99 Argos Value Sandwich Toaster and this is what I thought about ...  Read the complete review

I've had this sandwich toaster from Argos for a couple of years now and it has stood me in good stead so far. I only paid £4.99 for mine, although it is now £5.99 (is there anything in this world that isn't increasing in price at a ridiculous rate?!). I'd say it has turned out to be pretty good value, although it definitely isn't perfect . . . It is, as you would expect, pretty basic in both looks and functionality. For me the looks aren't important because it gets stored in one of my kitchen cupboards when I'm not using it. It is fairly compact and so is easy to store. If you want to keep your sandwich toaster out on display, I'd suggest you don't buy this ...  Read the complete review

Argos Sandwich Toaster: Avoid! (592 words)

I'm going to university in September (a month today, actually), and I've been buying appliances to fill my kitchen with, as I've been told I'm not allowed to take my mum's stuff with me. I don't have a lot to splash out, so I decided to purchase the Argos Value model, but now I wish I hadn't. I took it for a spin today and made both my lunch and supper with it (a cheese toastie in both cases) and was very disappointed. ***Performance*** I followed the instructions exactly and was disappointed with the results. Normally, toasties are golden brown all over but mines were slightly overdone in the middle and the rest was still white around the edges. I even ...  Read the complete review
