... when running. I did notice when flicking through the instruction booklet that in some countries the motor is only 400 watts, I’m not sure why this should be. From the top of the handle runs the power cord which is about 4’ long so you should always be within easy reach of a plug socket. The top part has a blue anti-slip soft grip handle with two press buttons for your choice of speed. The buttons need to be kept depressed for the motor to run which allows you to use a pulse action or one big blitz, which ever you...more

Crowned Review Braun Hand Blender: A whiz in my kitchen (849 words)
by - written on 26/09/07 (Very useful, 706 readings)
Rating:

This wonderful hand blender comes in the distinctive Braun turquoise blue and white cardboard packaging with pictures of the blender and descriptions in half a dozen or more different languages. There is an instruction book which at first glance looks impressive until you realise there is only a couple of instruction paragraphs in English and the rest is simply repeating those instructions in 20 (yes I counted) languages. This blender comes with a two year guarantee which is subject to the usual caveats of improper use or unauthorised repairs. Whilst reading the small print, for the purposes of this review, I discovered my blender was made in Poland and to determine ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Slow Death, Fairly Useful Life (1698 words)

While I am not exactly a Bridget Jones clone as I do have a permanent live-in boyfriend (currently snoring mercilessly near computer); nevertheless, I have often felt similar to her as I have had to fend off various well-meaning friends and family as to why I have not, as of yet, gotten married. And not only have I had to watch various comrades and cronies walk down that long white aisle into that state she rather bemusedly calls 'married smugs' but I also have had to endure that time-honoured ritual of "buying wedding gift from said registry." It is in so doing that I first had my encounter with the often requested (although mysterious to me) ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Braun Hand Blender: Sometimes you just can't control your urges!!! (1032 words)
by - written on 22/06/01 (Very useful, 317 readings)
Rating:

There are some times when the urge just overtakes you. There is nothing you can do to try and suppress it. It creeps up behind you and then WHAM!!! there it is. This urge usually strikes after a very long evening of excess. You know the sort I mean, it all starts off with a few beers at home, an evening on the town with more beers and a rather tasty curry, followed by a club, more beers and a kebab on the way home. Awaking the next morning there is no getting away from it, the urge is all pervading and irresistible. The urge to BLEND! And before you say it, no I?m not mad (well, not completely anyway!!!) There is definitely some method in this ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Braun MR4000 Hand Blender (586 words)

Rating:

When both my old Braun hand blenders broke within a couple of weeks I worked out how much use they had had and how old they were. One of them was over 10 years old, the other was about 8 years old and bought when I first met my husband and we had two homes for a couple of years. The older Braun hand blenders did not take apart to wash. Consequently, I assume, food debris worked up into the drive shaft and clogged it, eventually burning out the motor. I originally looked at the much more sophisticated Braun Multipractic which was advertised on TV over Christmas. However, I already have other appliances which do all the same jobs that this ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Braun Hand Blender: Indispensable when weaning !!! (159 words)
by - written on 13/07/00 (Very useful, 112 readings)
Rating:

This little blender is brilliant. When my daughter started weaning I was using a large blender and although this was great for blending large quantities of babyfood it was a pain to wash up all the time. I decided to get a hand blender and wasn't life easier. It comes with a container in which to blend food and was the ideal size for blending my daughters food unfortunatly the container was quite flimsy and broke easily but I really can't fault the blender. One food item that doesn't blend well is potato as the starch breaks down and you are left with a sticky, gluey mess that isn't edible. It blends brilliantly and is easy to clean and even now that my ...  Read the complete review
