Breville Stainless Steel Kettle With all the changes around my home last year we decided a new kettle was proably in order. The old one still worked but having done overtime for us, and workmen, during our life in the dreaded caravan the old kettle was looking a little the worse for wear. For at least 20 years we have only ever used electric Jug kettle of one make or another but thought a traditional shaped kettle might make a pleasant change and fit nicely in our new kitchen. There was not a lot of money left in the kitty and anyway I am never one for spending over the odds on an item such as a kettle, just so that it is all singing and ... Read the complete review

Ok, not a lot you can write about a kettle, but here goes! We bought this about 18 months ago as part of a special offer at Currys whereby you got a chrome kettle and toaster (model TT6) for £40. This seemed a really good deal as it was a lower price than the 'cheaper' makes and we had a Breville sandwich toaster that worked great. The kettle is in the traditional style, rather than the newer jug style, but it has covered elements which means that you don't need to boil loads of water for just one mug of tea. This was the main feature we were after as usually it's just the one cup of water at a time that we need. Its also cordless ... Read the complete review

I no longer have this kettle and thank the lord for that but in case this kettle is still available I thought I would write a review on it to make sure no one makes the same mistake I did and spends money on it. For the first few weeks I was quite happy with my Breville KT5 Chrome Kettle, it looked good in my kitchen and it worked well so no problems. Soon after the first few weeks though the problems started, it was suddenly taking nearly twice as long to boil and sounded very loud. I returned the kettle to Argos where I had purchased it and they replaced it no problem so off I went home with my new one but the same thing happened again, the first ... Read the complete review

I was bought the KT5 as a wedding present in July 2000. I loved the way it looked and was really happy with it - for a few months. Sometimes the switch didn't seem to work and it took a few times to get it going but I just thought it was a skill I'd develop. Then one day the kettle wouldn't switch on at all. We took it back to the shop where it came from and the customer services man said he'd had loads of these kettles returned - all for switch problems, either they wouldn't switch on, or worse, some people had found that they wouldn't switch OFF! We really liked the kettle, though, so we swapped it for new KT5. Just in case it was our hard water ... Read the complete review

I bought the Breville Classique (KT6) from COMET on the 30 August 2001 for what I considered was a fair price (£36) considering its looks and features. The quite fetching chromed stainless steel body looked a treat in our kitchen (which has stainless appliances) and as we live in a hard water area the scale filter is a noce little touch - shame it is so flimsy as it broke after about 6 months. It has a quickboil (3KW) element and does what you expect in that department. If you do buy I wish you luck - mine died (element failure) before the 2 year point and the kettle only carries a 1 year guarantee. COMET did not want to know and BREVILLE were not ...
