Advantages: cool wall
Disadvantages: none
I nearly successfully killed my toaster by dropping a key ring accidentally into it the smell of burning plastic was awful, however I managed to remove it and despite pleas from my son that I was poisoning him I continued to use it. One week later my husband knocked it off the work unit and this time much to my sons delight it was terminal. So off I went to Argos in search of a new one. I went with an open mind; no special make only requirement was coolwall and preferably a two slice one so my old cover would fit. I flicked through the pages and the cheapest a Cookworks 2-slice coolwall fitted all my requirements and at £7.99 seemed a real bargain. I checked availability and it was in stock and was coming up at £6.99 even better, I hurried to the check out to make my purchase. At this point I remember I had and old points card from Somerfield (now defunct) in my purse and asked if I could still use it. Yes no problem came the reply and that brought the price down to £1.99.What a bargain!! So what had I got for my money, a lovely white two-slice toaster with a cool wall and like all modern appliances had the plug already attached. I removed all the packaging and this included a lot of polystyrene and plugged it in Next step in went my two slices of bread and after setting the dial to the required colour of the toast I depressed the handle and waited. Up popped the toast beautifully browned and ready to butter. Another feature available is the re-heat button which I have not tried yet. It also has an easily removable crumb tray unlike my old one, which I had to shake violently over the bin. Another feature I like is not being able to depress the handle if the plug is not switched on, a quality not available with my old model as many a time I waited on my toast only to find the plug had been removed. The cool wall is a must if you have children as it saves little fingers getting burnt or clumsy old ones in my case.
I am delighted with my purchase and I highly recommend it. Cookworks is a make only available at Argos I think and comes with a one-year guarantee.
