Advantages: Healthy, fast, easy to clean
Disadvantages: Price, George Foreman equivalent is about £10 cheaper but is made of plastic
~What is it?
The Cuisinart grill is an electric grill, similar to the George Foreman products, which you can use to cook a range of different food on.
It consists of two metal plates, one on the top and one on the bottom, which heat up and therefore cook the food on both sides at once. Some of the cheaper grills are hinged at the back which means when you put say a chicken breast in one end of it cooks faster than the other because it is not evenly in contact with the plates.
~Features
Not hinged at the back - it has a "floating hinge" which means it cooks evenly.
Two sets of plates - one flat set and one ridged set. The flat set seems best for paninis and the ridged set for anything which fat will melt out of.
Drip cups - to catch the fat as it melts off - great for reducing the calories hence the George Foreman product
Easy to use dials for either grill or griddle.
~Ease of use
Controls are very straightforward. It heats up quickly.
It is also big enough to get 4 paninis or 4 big chicken breasts in at once. Or for the kids tea 4 fish fingers, 8 hash browns and some vegies done in the microwave.
It can also be used on the dining table with it opened out flat - we used it like this for racclet (kind of melted cheese dish like fondue) and for pancakes on pancake day.
~Ease of cleaning
The top and bottom plates just clip off and are pretty non stick. It says they are dishwasher safe but we don't have one.
~Build Quality
Excellent. A robust and durable machine. It comes with a 5 year warranty from the manufacturer which I doubt you will ever need.
~Price
We paid £120 for ours but they are now selling for around £99 or less. Well worth it in my opinion as it is built to last.
Summary: If you wanted to take it away from me you would have a fight on your hands!
