The kettle ceased to exist when it exploded for some inexplexible reason - I assume ... more  ... water managed to get into the element base but the instructions clearly state that the safety cut out should have prevented that happenening. This was all while the product was still under guarantee !! So maybe this was just a one off, I hear you say. I came home with a replacement DeLonghi and put it in the dead DeLonghi's place on the worktop. I bought one of these stylish, sleek kettles back in the year 2000 when I moved into my new house. If this kettle was a person it would be a sex god with it's posh, come turn me on look and at first, all seemed well - it looked great and visitors always commented on how nice it was but looks can be decieving. Along with a lot of things in life, the best looking option isn't always the best option !! You can't knock DeLonghi for their contemporary design or stylish range of kitchen products - trouble is the performance can't match up. First of all, the two pilot lights just fell out. Other problems I had were the top not going on ...

A cool looking kettle at a reasonable price - Advantages: Cool design, doesn't let steam out of spout as its coming up to boil - and it does boil quick!, easily moved around 360 deg - Disadvantages: a little bit heavier than other kettles when empty, the limescale sieve in the spount means it doesn't pour quite as quickly as you might be used to - but it's not a problem!
