... not particularly good at sorting out how things work, but going through the manual (translated into eleven languages), it all sounded pretty straightforward. Finding a suitable place, however, was a bit tricky, as you should leave a clear space of at least 50 cm both in front and behind the dehumidifer. The only solution I had in my tiny flat was to position it sideways on top of the desk in my bedroom. The manual recommends that for ongoing use it is placed in a hall or corridor with rooms left open, but this is no...more

Delonghi Dehumidifier: Great Buy! (101 words)

If you need a dehumidifier that works, buy this one. We had a burst water pipe that flodded our house, and the whole place stayed way too humid for a long time, but after a few weeks since we'd started using this, the place became dry. Despite its size, it takes a lot of water in a short period of time, and you wouldn't notice the noise that much. In fact, I personally found it rather calming! It seems rather cheap to run, as well. We've had it for a year now, and it's continuously on, but no sign of ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review No more mouldy boots (1191 words)

One morning, pulling a pair of boots from under a chair in the corner of my bedroom, I was horrified to find them covered in mould. A few days before, I thought I had noticed a smell of mould as I came through the front door of my flat, but I had had no idea where it was coming from. From the time I moved into my flat, I had been aware that the plants didn't need watering as often as they used to, and washing did seem to take a long time to dry, even in summer. There was obviously a lot of moisture in the air; the boots could just be tied up in a bag and disposed of, but I didn't want to end up with mould growing on the walls and creating a health hazard. I decided ...  Read the complete review

Delonghi Dehumidifier: no more wet patches (155 words)

For many years i lived in a multi storey flat, and was troubled by damp and condensation. I solved the problem by buying a delonghi dehumidifier, not cheap but well worth it. It actually works by drawing the air across a radiator type element and by the air been warm and contacting the cool elements the moisture is left in the dehumidifier. Compact approx 2 ft high by 10 inches deep and one foot wide mine had a mahogony finish. It has two fan speeds and five different settings deoending on how bad the damp is. It also has its own container for collecting the moisture in and shuts itself down when full. Quiet when in use and very economical, i also ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Wet, wet, wet (221 words)

During my wonderful years on the Isle of Skye I lived in a caravan which had it own open air system. This consisted of a hole the size of a head in the bathroom and several other freshair leaking points around the joint. Now I cannot understand why I endured it for so long, but then again housing was in short supply and as a single male with no dependents I never qualified for a council house. Anyway, every winter and spring you could gaurantee having a water bed and the television would spark when plugged in. Mould was on the furniture and the clothes would turn to mush. Thank good ness for the dehumidifier. Life was transformed after this ...  Read the complete review
