What better way is there to start the day than with a nice slice of fresh toast and jam? During the Summer, I've been more inclined to go for juice or fruit but as the Winter draw in (sigh) and we all have to get used to getting up in the dark, we'll be turning to the "comfort" things again. Well, I certainly will anyway. You can get toasters for £7. They toast the bread. They work. 'Nuff said. But they look crap, last about a week and end up with a toasting technique that more closely resembles patchy sunburn. You get what you pay for - and I got a top of the range, stylish kitchen toy that is the envy of anyone who shares breakfast with ... Read the complete review

In the new Argos Christmas Catalogue, there's a toaster/kettle set for under £50. If I tell you I paid more than double that for only one of the items, you might think I was supremely ripped off. Until, that is, I point out that mine's a Dualit. Dualit...as recommended by Miranda in Sex and The City and the people in the posh cook shop on Deansgate...as used by the staff in the kitchen at work...as provided in my first year hall of residence's kitchen, and the breakfast room at the Warwick conference centre...as revered by people around the world, prompting comments like "you know you've made it when you've a Dualit in your kitchen" from others on my ... Product: Dualit Vario 4 slice toaster (model No 40349) Purchase Price and Date: £139.00 from Argos, Spring 2002 Other contending products: None! Why did I want a toaster / product requirements. Just before our young son was born we realised that normal meal times may become a bit ?haphazard? and we may not have time to do all the normal cooking stuff. Toast is a quick, filling and easy meal and with a variety of spread able ?toppings? not at all boring and ideal for those rapid ?pit stop? meals! OK so we have the primary requirements, making toast needs to be hassle free experience. The toaster must look the part in the kitchen, ... Read the complete review

The primary reasons we bought one of these, was because of the looks, and because it is British. We wanted a chrome, retro look toaster that could do 4 pieces of bread at the same time. There are some other alternatives that would meet these requirements, but the Dualit looks funky, and from reading some reviews about Dualit toasters in general, they seem to be bomb-proof, with the only complaint is the price. Dualit actually guarantee the cooking internals for unlimited usage, for the first year, as their target market is actually commercial use, this gave me confidence. I bought mine online from www.chromekitchen.co.uk. . They price was one of ... Read the complete review

The Dualit toaster is known to be the best one on the market, and I am pleased to say that mine has lived up to its expectations. It toasts bread very well and is not one of those cheap toasters that will blow up on you when you least expect it. It's very reliable, simple and looks fantastic. The toaster is made from stainless steel, which looks super in any modern kitchen. It doesn't corrode and ours is still in the same condition as years ago when we bought it. It's an excellent product that has lasted, so despite the price tag of under £140.00 on amazon.co.uk, I would highly recommend one! They are built to last and have a wonderful design ...
