I got tired of buying kettles. In the last two years there had been about four in the house. One went back to the shop after a day because as much steam escaped from around the lid as from the spout. Another waited until just after the guarantee period was over and then decided that it wanted to go part-time whilst another started to shed pieces of metal from the element. Only the earliest died of old age and, of course, that model was no longer made. Spending money on kettles is not so much fun that I want to do it on a regular basis, so I looked for a kettle that I felt would last. And last.
