Advantages: Great brand, Well built and strong, Makes toast
Disadvantages: None
--Introduction--
As many of you reading this review will already know, my family and myself are very keen on all electrical products made by Philips. In fact, wherever you look around our appartment you will see something that is made or produced by Philips. My family and I tend to eat a lot of bread and toast in particular, so we need to have a good quality toaster that we can depend on. We don't all get up at the same time in the morning, so the there is never a mad rush to get your toast.
As far as toasters go, I personally would say that this toaster has very good aesthetics. It looks really nice in our modern kitchen, but would look great with any style. It is only supplied in one colourway, the brushed chrome effect and black plastic scheme as shown in the picture. It gives it a very modern look and feel and also that look of quality. The edges are very rounded which adds to that 'concept' sort of mood. The absence of straight lines does give any product that extra edge, pardon the punn.
--Durability/Strength--
This toaster is very well constructed and very well designed. It is very sturdy and strong, as it is made with the highest quality material. It feels very tough if you pick it up in your hands, it feels like quality. It also seems pretty good technically. It is very reliable and we haven't had any problems with it since we bought it around a year ago. I am very confident that we will get many more years of use the machine and should not experience any technical problems with it. It is very easy to keep clean, because the surface is easy wipe and it doesn't tend to hold the dirt. The casing is also very difficult to mark and scratch, so it will look as new for a long time after you first use it.
--Features--
This toaster is of the 'two slice' variety and it has two separate slots, one for each slice of bread, or toast. There is a 'crumb tray' fitted on this toaster, which in old money is a small panel that collects crumbs. It is located on the base of the unit. It can pulled out when a lot of crumbs have accumulated on it and you can empty it. This is handy, because it means that the crumbs will not start to burn when you continue using it. It also means that you don't have to turn the toaster upside down to empty it, as it can cause the toaster to break or possibly malfunction. There is a dial, which allows you to set the time that the bread will be toasted for. There is also a 'cancel' button, in case the bread starts to burn or you just want to pop the toast up.
--Evaluation/Conclusion--
Some people may say that, 'a toaster is a toaster' and that it doesn't matter what company makes it or what the styling is. I would have to disagree with that, because it is an electrical product and they are more prone to becoming faulty or breaking than any other sort of product. The design is also fairly important because you want to have something that fits in with your kitchen and that looks nice. It's not ideal to buy something that you really don't like the look of. So you have to make sure you choose the right toaster for you.
So to sum up, I would most definetly reccomend this particular toaster to anybody that is in need of a new one. This would also be a good wedding present if you can't think of what to buy. The reasons for me reccomending this product are as follows. Firstly, this only costs £30 which is about par for the course for toasters. For that £30 outlay, you are going to get a very stylish toaster which will look great in your kitchen. It is also made by Philips, a brand that you can always rely on.
