Advantages: drains fat away, multi functional, easy clean, cheaper than using an oven

Disadvantages: Doesn't hold large roasts, you may want to pre-brown meat joints

I seem to start off nearly every review with the immortal words "I really wanted this but I swore I wasn't going to buy it". You guessed it this one too.

I loved my George Foreman grill, easy to cook in, easy to clean (at the beginning) and it lost the grease from food so I kept looking at the Lean Mean Roasting Machine and its advertising blurb in a Department Store near where I work. I resisted time and again until the day we had yet another fire drill in work, only this time it wasn't a fire drill it was a real live fire.

This was about 11:00 and ever conscious of our welfare we were told to dander off down town and come back about 3:00 when hopefully the building would have been put out and the acrid smell of smoke somewhat diminished.

Its quite a small town so eventually I ended up in the Department Store which housed the object of my affection and was close enough to read all the info. on the box about all it could do. As I was killing time I devoured every scrap of info. and began to formulate a plan of how I could acquire this mighty beast.

Reasons flooded in :-

Cheaper to cook a roast in this than in an oven
Saving fat and calories
Cooks more quickly
Easy clean
Fits up to a 3lb chicken
Skillet included to make casseroles etc.

Well after all those good points and fate starting the fire which brought me here it seemed to be my duty to fork over £39.99 and purchase the might beast.

Once home and in fact carrying back upto work I discovered that it was a quite heavy sturdy bit of kit. It is about the same size as an average Gorge Foreman but aroung 14" high (to accommodate a roast or chicken) and comes complete with the inclining ridged plates and a dish for casseroles etc.It has good sturdy legs and looks really trendy.

To use simply spread a small amount of butter over the plates top and bottom switch on and allow to heat up for approx. 5 minutes. Insert the chicken or meat joint and set the timer for the required time. The timer will beep on completion and you will not need to adjust the joint etc. during the cooking time although you may want to empty the drip tray which catches the fat from the cooking meat via the inclining plates.

All meats are cooked at the same temperature but for differing amounts of time, all the details are given in the accompanying instruction and recipe book.

Advantages
Meat\chicken is moist
Meat\chicken hasn't been sitting in fat through cooking
Versatile dishes from joints and chicken to risotto, vegetable frittata, baked chocolate custard available.

The cooking pan insert and griddle plates for the joints\chicken are non-stick and after about two years I'm still finding they easily wipe clean with a little hot water and fairy liquid.

For joints simply place your joint onto the bottom griddle plate and close the lid. For stews, pasta bakes, baking etc. insert the baking pan and then follow the instructions for recipe. Timer will beep on completion.

Cooking times

Whole chicken upto 3lb 90 minutes
Beef upto 3lb 60 - 80 minutes .

This is a good reliable easy clean machine which can be used for a multitude of dishes and is cheaper to run than an oven. I haven't had very much use out of it for the money but for anyone who cooks a lot of roasts (under 3lb or so) or chicken could find this functional for the ease of use, not cooking in fat, no need for an oven and easy cleaning .

Possibly ideal for a caravan

Summary: Healthier cooking and you just stick it in and walk away

I was referring to this product as still easy to clean after two years as although it has only been added to Dooyoo this week it has been in production since 2006 when I purchased it.

Gorge Foreman? I hope I never find one of these! VG review despite some minor eye openers.

Of more importance since this does appear to be a new model product here on Dooyoo, it seems confusing to state that the griddle part is easy to clean even "after two years." If you mean this in reference to the Fat Grill product you have already, please state this.
