... is like comparing a Volvo 740 with a new Volvo S80; or if you can't imagine that a match box with an egg; the Haden is a tallish block of a kettle with a bold squarish handle and a grey ribbed button on the top with no indications of on or off! It is extremely basic by today's standards and shows in some way how far Morphy Richards have come on too from their hotel room Dimplex/Glen kettles (we had one of those!) in the mid 1980's to the organic curves of the Opera jug kettle. If there is one kettle worth talking about, it's the stalwart jug kettle, darling model of the masses favoured by the ordinary folk looking for the basics and folk who have bought one for their caravans or been blessed with this jug kettle in many a Motel or cheap B&B. I am of course talking about the Haden jug kettle. I think they appeared in the late 1980's; my parents had three of them and they all lasted between one to three years depending on its use.
