I got this Toastie maker in a set with a Kettle and Toaster. I think it all cost £38, but I got it for a housewarming present. I have used this product a lot and I think it does the job well. It's hard to get excited about a sandwich maker, but this one was quite cheap and does a good job. I usually turn it on, then go about preparing my sandwich to toast. That way it is nice and hot for when i'm ready. I usually give the sandwich around 8 minutes before I take it out. After that amount of time it is nice, crisp and hot. Why is it that whenever I make a toastie, no matter how much I butter the plates and toast, it still sticks and ends up having to be scrapped onto my plate in an unceremonious mess. Toasties are of course the staple diet of students and I have to say they are lovely (my favorite being cheese and marmite it is gooooood). Experimenting with different combo's is very rewarding and can even be quite exciting when you discover a new flavour. However I am yet to find a toastie maker which hasn't stuck to my bread and thus instead of creating a perfect crispy triangle I have been left with a squidgy mess and lots of grime to clean off my toastie maker. Sandwich toasters, what a great invention. It's one of those kitchen gadgets for a specific task, that unlike bread makers, rice cookers and ice cream makers - I actually think is worth the space in the kitchen. Quick and easy to use, they're great if you're in a hurry, but want something warm. Experimenting with fillings can be fun. A baked bean toastie is an interesting alternative to beans on toast, or how about using those beans with mini sausages in for a more substantial snack. My favourite is corned beef, potato and peas :) I've also tried turkey and apricot jam, in a kind of 'sweet and sour' concoction - ...
