Advantages: Cheap, Stainless, Does the business

Disadvantages: Hasn't got a big name, if that's important to you

UPDATE: Now on sale at £13.99!

Last week my dodgy old toaster finally blew its' elements, bringing on the minor crisis that is a lack of hot buttered toast.

Rushing to the pile of Argos/Index/etc catalogues on the shelf I found that any chance of colour coordination with last years' kettle was a no no. Fashion has moved on and any self respecting toaster is fitted out in retro styled stainless steel or plain white plastic.

So, SS is would be. The last machine was a pain for its' inability to accept the doorstops of self sliced bread that I prefer, so wide and deep slots was requirement 1. Thereafter the styling differences and prices were my only other considerations.

Popping into town on BH Monday saw me checking out the metal/plastic in person before I settled on the JMB (yes, I'm getting nearer to an opinion soon). I'd not heard of that name before and was dubious. However, in Littlewoods Index shop the flash SALE sign caught my eye, as these things tend to, so I checked the JMB number out in the metal.

Yes, SS, retro, big slots and cheap. I'll take one. £17.99 reduced from £21.99. The cheapest SS model around by far. Would it be cheap and nasty in the kitchen?

After an extensive trial lasting over a intensive 3 days (yeah, right) I'm very happy with the slightly impulsive bargain buy.

It has (TL1000):

-Variable browning control.
-Extra-long variable width slots, that hold their contents firmly but release upon request.
-Mid-cycle cancel button (yikes, It's burning).
-Bagel button (and indicator).
-Reheat button (and indicator).
-Slide crumb tray.
-Defrost function (and indicator).
-Hi-lift facility, so you can get hold of titchy stuff.

Yay, a big improvement over the previous model, even if it doesn't colour coordinate as well.

SUMMARY:
Makes nice toast whilst looking good and costing little. What else can
I say...only time will tell
