We have recently bought a new kettle to replace the one which not only stopped working but blew the fuses in the house as it went. The Kenwood SK950 is an excellent kettle. It cost £27.50 from Argos (Catalogue number 420/8176) and is well worth it.
It has a capacity of 1.7litres which I make about 3 pints, it has, according to the box, about 2.2kw of power but such figures are only relevant if you are comparing them against another kettle. What counts is how it boils water, after all apart from looks that is the only function you want from a kettle. The Kenwood has a round modern chrome design and sits on a connector which means the kettle can be placed anywhere within a 360o arc and it still connects perfectly. Well there is also perhaps one crucial other consideration which comes into it, how does it pour? The Kenwood has an excellent design which means the water pours very easily from the largish spout.
With all things considered the Kenwood is an excellent kettle, it looks good, connects very easily to the base, lifts off the base and pours easily and boils the water quickly enough. What more could you want?

Nar2 - 16/06/08 Welcome to Dooyoo. A fair start here but there is much to say about the "humble" kettle.
How it boils water? So how does it boil? Quick or slow? 2.2kw kettles these days are slower than 3kw and you should comment on this as well as noise and if it has a filter. Therefore how easy or difficult is it to clean? Does it have a gauge to show how much water is in it? Is it easy to fill rather than just pouring?
A bit more info would be good here and you could update your review at any time. If you do update pls let me know. |
