Advantages: Easy to clean, Nice size, Pop up lid

Disadvantages: None

My husband is addicted to home made chips and if he had his way he would eat them every day. I have tried hard to cut down his in-take, but without success. He even has chips with his curry and chilli-con-carne.

Anyway a few months ago I was preparing one of my lovely chilli’s and knew that I would have to cook him some chips. I peeled and chopped the spuds and got out my deep fat fryer, I turned it on and waited for the red light to go out, it seemed to be taking a long time. When I checked it was not heating the oil, and realized that it had broken. Panic set in, what was I going to do now? I had to use a large saucepan and heat the oil in that, just to cook his bloody chips, or face his moaning if I served up his dinner with out them. When he came in I told him it was broken, he immediately said you better go and buy a new one first thing tomorrow. Lol.

Anyway I did go out to find a new one, I was looking for something smaller, that did not take up so much room in my cupboard and one that I could clean easier, as I find these are the worst kitchen appliances to clean. It is a job that I hate, yucky.

I went into my local Index store to see what was on offer and was surprised at how fryers have changed, which I must say is for the better. I looked at a few and decided to go for this Kenwood model, firstly because of its size and it stated it was easy clean, just what I was looking for. It was more expensive than some of the others but was actually on special offer with £10.00 off, so I grabbed it and brought it home.

Kenwood DF350 Total Clean Coolwall

FEATURES:

It is bright white in colour and has a 0.8 kg food capacity, which is a lot smaller than most, as they are usually 1kg or more.

It has a permanent lid filter, which is great, no more cutting felt filters as I used to with my old fryer.

Non-stick coated aluminium bowl, which is removable for easy cleaning

Th
e lid, basket and body are all fully removable too, which aids the cleaning brilliantly. They can be put in your dish washer, if you are lucky enough to own one.

The actual control module clips out from the bottom of the machine, which is the only part that cannot be washed. So basically everything can be totally dismantled for easy cleaning, which is fantastic.

It has a variable temperature control with a neon light.

The lid is a pop-up mechanism.

It is also coolwall that means the sides do not get hot when it use, which is a great safety aspect.

It comes with a good instruction booklet, which is very simple to understand. It is really easy to use, I love the pop-up lid.I actually paid £48 for it, which I think is well worth it. As for its performance it works wonderfully, lovely crispy chips that are done in a jiffy, at least the hubby's is happy with the cooking results. There is a bigger food capacity model available, which has the same features but costs around £75, which I feel is rather a lot to pay out on for a deep fat fryer. So if you are looking for an easy clean option, than I can certainly recommend this to all.

Good op. Actually large chips cooked in vegetable oil aren't unhealthy. Sounds like a good investment.

Chips and curry .... Ummmm.
Chips and Chilli .... Ummm ummmmmm

We really don't have much fries food in our house, and so, as tempting as this sounds .... it just wouldn't be used.

When mine broke about 4 years ago I resisted the temptation to buy another and started grilling everything instead, much healthier (although doesnt taste quite as nice!)
