Advantages: Fast, Easy

Disadvantages: More washing up than using a knife to slice.

I was given this processor as a present about two months ago. My first reaction was that I would have preferred an electric mixer, but I have actually grown to like it.

Lets start with what you get.....
Power unit, bowl, lid and pushers, blender, twin beater whisk, citrus press,slicing/shredding plates, dough tool and steel chopper blade. You also get a storage box for the slicing/shredding plates which is useful to keep sharp blades away from the children.

I started out by making the children milkshakes and smoothies in the blender, this seems much the same as any other blender I have used.

I then tried out the twin beater whisk. This is a rather flimsy looking attatchment and is recommended only to be used for eggs, sugar or light cream.
I had a go at some meringue and found it did a good job and much faster than my electric hand whisk. It also worked well at whipping the cream to go inside them.

I love making shortbread to go with strawberries and cream but in the summer it can be a boring and messy task. I put the ingredients in the main bowl and used the steel blade and it was ready in less than a minute. We may all get very fat now I can save time on the families favourite bisuits.

If you feel the urge to make some shortbread, with or with out a processor this is my favourite recipe..

Ingredients.
Butter 4oz or 100g
Plain Flour 5oz or 125g
Cornflour 1oz or 25g*
Caster sugar 2oz or 50g.

Method for Processor.
Fit main metal processor blade.
Sift flours into bowl.
Add sugar.
Add butter cut into 1" cubes.
Process on fast speed until it begins to form a dough.(approx 45 seconds).
Turn out onto a board mould into a smooth dough.
Press into a greased 7" sandwich tin, and score the top into eigths and prick with a fork.
Bake in the centre of the oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Gas mark 4, 350f or 180c.
When lightly golden, remove from oven and al
low to cool before turning out and sprinkling with caster sugar.

Hand Method.
Place sifted flours and sugar in a bowl.
Add butter cut into cubes.
Rub butter into flour with finger tips until it forms crumbs, and then mould with your hands until it forms a dough (this can take some time).
Bake as before.
*The cornflour is optional you can use all plain flour, but the cornflour gives it that melt in the mouth texture.

Then just add a cup of tea, maybe some strawberries and thick cream and enjoy.

These were my star features of the processor it seems to work satisfactorily at all the other tasks but I admit I haven't used the citrus press yet.

The washing up is OK, the main bowl, lid etc. can be put into a dishwasher.

The capacity seems to be ample for my family of four. The bowl will take up to a 3lb cake mix or 1.3 litres of liquid. The liquidiser holds I litre.

It has two speeds and a pulse button.
The instruction book was clear on how and what to use each attatchment for and what speed.

There are some basic recipes in the instruction book, but you also get a colour recipe book with more interesting ideas in.

I will probably just stick to the attatchments it came with, but thier is a fairly comprehensive list of extras you can purchase to do other tasks.

As with all reputable products sold today the power unit will only work when the lid is locked on, but even so I am careful not to leave it in easy reach of the children.

What a cracking present. No-one give me pressies like this!!!

BTW, the recipe seems lovely but might have been better off in the food and drink section as a stand alone op.
