It has a concealed disc element which seems fairly efficient and a glowing switch when it is working. However - it is extremely noisy when it is working - so noisy it stops all conversation in the kitchen! I found this disappointing in a brand new kettle. Good value for free - but I wouldn't like to think i had spent £35 (Argos price) on it!

I recently won a Kenwood Vision Kettle -JK960 - and was very pleased as my old one was rather poorly. It has a large water window which shows how much water inside - but this remains steamed up all the time and it often seems that there is more water inside than there really is - beware of this problem.
