Advantages: clean and safe to use

Disadvantages: none

I got so fed up with my old-fashioned chip pan; it was crawling on the outside from so much wear and tear.
Storing it away in the cupboard after use was making the cupboard smell (well I had to store it away in case anyone saw it!) It was that bad. It did make damn fine chips though if I say so myself.

Safety reasons was another factor in me buying a deep fat fryer. My hubby had a habit of frying chips and popping into the living room every few minutes to watch the television leaving it unattended, dangerous game that and one day I could see it going up in flames.

I chose a Moulinex A 08 for £22.95 from my local Argos store; the price was very reasonable I thought. I honestly expected to pay at least £35.00.

There is a filter in the lid to keep the fatty smells down and I change it every time I change the oil.

The thermostat is adjustable from 140 to 190 degrees and it has a thermal safety cut out if it does get over heated.
I think this is an excellent safety feature because over heated fat pans are one of the most commonest causes of house fires, and something that I dread happening to me. I would go into a complete panic I think.

It is very easy to clean, I just wipe the inside out with a warm soapy cloth when changing the oil and dry it with paper towels.
If you strain the oil once in a while I have noticed that it lasts so much longer.
I have heard so many people say that they are expensive to run because you have to use so much oil, but I can honestly say that I find it quite reasonable. Two litres of oil costs me £1.79 and lasts for ages.

I can recommend this fryer, it heats up quickly and chips do taste just the same as they did in my old greasy chip pan. Chicken portions cook in six minutes, and battered fish in three minutes.
I don’t know why I waited so long to invest in one of these, how ever did I manage before?
