Advantages: Room for loads of chips, Easy to clean
Disadvantages: none so far
I wrote an opinion for Dooyoo basically having a moan about my last deep fat fryer. I have decided that it is only fair therefore to write an opinion about my new one too. I have a large family, 2 adults, 5 kids and my chip pan gets plenty of use. I was never really happy with my last deep fat fryer from the beginning and it used to drop to bits at the most inopportune moments. (See other op) So I decided to invest in a new one. After having a good look round and weighing up all the costs, (including buying a chippy) I decided to buy the Moulinex Pro Clean Deep Fat Fryer. My first consideration obviously had to be the size. I am sick to death of having to feed the kids in two sittings because I cannot cook enough chips in one go. My new fryer holds a full four litres of oil. Although I wasn’t sure by looking at the size of the basket it does take 1kg of chips. The second consideration has to be cleaning. It is stainless steel, which I have found is far easier to keep clean than the plastic one I had before. It completely comes to pieces so you can fully immerse all of it apart from the element. Basically in a word, Brilliant. The third consideration was cost. At £79.00 it was really a lot of money for a glorified chip pan. I suppose though for the size and ease it was worth it. The fourth consideration was the basket handle. I had so many problems with the handle of my last fryer that I swore I would never buy a folding handle ever again. The handle on this one is well moulded to the basket and I feel quite confident that it is not going to collapse when I have got a basketful of scalding hot chips. The filter is built into the lid and is just washed along with the rest of it. This means I don’t have to fork out for new filters every couple of months. As a bonefide tight ass that goes down really well in my book. It has all the usual features of a deep fat fryer, on/off switch, var
ious temperature settings etc. Another little feature that I quite like is that it has side carrying handles. This makes it easy to move when the fat is hot. As yet I have found nothing to complain about whatsoever on this deep fat fryer, which is unusual for me, I can usually find something to give “constructive criticism” about. Even the kids haven’t complained about my cooking lately which makes a change, although I’m sure that won’t last.

jopassmore - 06/12/01 I have given up on deep fat fryers and now buy frozen chips. I expect that is a bit expensive with 7 of you though and homemade fried chips are delicious. Jo |
