Advantages: Long lasting and reasonably priced.

Disadvantages: Handle fault.

I purchased a Moulinex deep fat fryer about 3 years ago and I must say they are good. Chips cooked to perfection every time.
It cost about £35:00 when we bought it and we thought that was a very good price at the time. Unfortunately I can’t tell you which model it is, there is no indication on it at all, apart from some tiny writing on the back that has a warning about immersing it in water and it says it’s a household type. If it’s any help its round, white (with some cooking times printed on the front) and has a drop down basket.
It has a replaceable filter and you don’t have to search around for the correct one. There are filters that are designed to be cut to size and this works as well as the original. This saves money if you want to. The filter lasts quite a while anyway, but if you need to it is possible to get more life from it by rinsing in washing up liquid solution and drying it. This will give you a bit of extra time to get a replacement (don’t leave it too long, unless you enjoy having a kitchen full of smoke).

We have found it still cooks really well even after ‘heavy usage’ for just over 3 years. We have found a design fault though. I personally think it’s quite a major one. The basket has a removable handle and you must remove it so the basket can be lowered in to the fat. It will not lower the basket until the lid is closed (great safety feature!!!) and the handle would be in the way. We are now on our 6th handle. The handle wasn’t designed to be strong enough for the purpose it is required for. Moulinex have been brilliant over the years and EVERY time the handle has broken they have replaced it free of charge, no questions asked.

They have an extremely fast and efficient customer service personnel. They are courteous and polite (very rare!!!!). They try to be helpful and actually listen when you want to rant and rave about something, they just wait patiently until you
have got it off your chest. Then they try and help if they can. If they can’t they go a find a person that can help.

I have seen newer versions of their fryers and they seem to have rectified the handle problem. After speaking to a couple of members of my family about Moulinex products they have bought I have been quite impressed. In general they seem to last a lot longer than most brands. So they are reasonably priced, good value for money and you have help on the end of the telephone should you need it.
