Another issue concerns the amount of mixture you pour onto the grill plates. The first few times I tried I was a little over enthusiastic, and decided to fill them completely before shutting the lid. This caused the mixture to ooze out at the sides, make a huge mess of the kitchen and even put me off making them again for a while. My sister is great at secretly noting down things I've said, and retrieving them months or years in the future when the time is right.
