Advantages: Makes mini doughnuts.

Disadvantages: Horrible to clean.

I bought my boyfriend this doughnut maker for Christmas as when we went shopping once, there was this little van selling freshly made little doughnuts exactly the same looking ones you make from the prima doughnut maker. Anyway these doughnuts were amazing so we really wanted to re-create them ourselves. For a start the prima doughnut maker is a lot healthier as the doughnuts from the van were cooked in very hot oil.

The doughnut maker at the time cost around £20 but if you search online now you can find them for around £15.

I must say I was a bit disappointed when the doughnut maker arrived as it just doesn't look appealing and just feels a little bit too rickety, it did look like to me a product that would have been made a good few years ago, but that's just my personal opinion of it.

I find that the doughnuts are a little bit too dry if you eat them as they come, but luckily this doughnut maker comes with an instruction booklet along with the recipes on how to make numerous toppings for your freshly made doughnuts.

I do find that the prima doughnut maker gets extremely hot like maybe a little too hot as the handle even seems hot to me when I am checking on the doughnuts.

Making these doughnuts is a pretty messy process, well for me it is anyway. You have to try and get the doughnut mix into the little rings but this ends up going all over the place, especially if you use a spoon; even pouring from a jug you just get too much doughnut mix on the maker. My suggestion would be to use a piping bag, this is the only way I can think of getting the mix in the maker without the excess mess.

If you do happen to create a mess all over the doughnut maker, I am afraid to say this is not an easy piece of equipment to clean. The doughnut mix gets burnt all across the hot plate bit and obviously you cannot soak this to get it off, scraping at it scratches the metal so not a good idea. So this is probably the reason we only use this product on the odd occasion.

Overall this does make good doughnuts but as long as you are prepared for the cleaning afterwards then would I recommend this.

Summary: Good for the doughnuts if you dont mind the vigours cleaning afterwards.
