I have always made bread from time to time so a bread maker was always going to find its way into my house at some point. So when the Prima Breadmaker found its way into my stocking one Christmas I was delighted and it has been used regularly ever since. It is quite a large unit so takes up a considerable amount of space on the work surface but it does two sizes of loaf, big and bigger, or more accurately 2.5lb and 3lb. The cooking unit is a large loaf tin, that clicks onto the heating element and it has two paddles, to make a loaf you need a large one and a small one and it does come with two spares. It also comes with a ... Read the complete review

Well on Christmas day my life changed forever with the arrival of my breadmaker. The last thing I did before heading to bed on Christmas night was set the machine to make me fresh bread whilst I slept. Boxing day morning I awoke to the smell of freshly baked bread and my life was changed forever. ~~~ Gadgets ~~~ I love gadgets, hey I even have an electric vegetable peeler! (And damned useful it is too). After reading a number of reviews stating the excellence of breadmakers I began to think about asking Santa for one, the question is would it be a useful gadget, like my electric cheese grater, or a forgotten one like the pasta maker (I wonder where that ... My new toy is the Prima Home Bakery - although it pretends to be a Schneider machine! Throughout the instruction booklet it refers to the Prima Home Bakery so this is a bit of rebranding. Having read mixed reviews on breadmakers I've not been sure if I really wanted one but when I saw this at £34.99 in Asda I couldn't resist. As a family of six, we go though a large loaf most days and we all like fresh crusty bread from the bakery or supermarket. But as I only shop twice a week, most days the bread has to come out of the freezer and it never seems as good. So far I've made a loaf every day for a week and all have been perfect - I expect the ... Read the complete review

I recently decided to purchase the Prima Home Bakery for £59.99. I've never been a bread-maker, and have always bought my bread from a shop, but after much consideration, decided on buying this bread-maker. In the long run, it could save me money, or if I run out of bread, I can always whip a loaf up. This particular model makes 1.5LB or 2LB loaves. The 2LB is quite large, and the bread itself comes out a treat! In the manual given with the machine are step-by-step instructions on how to use the machine, and also a 'Your First Loaf' recipe. It is for a basic white loaf. You will need at hand: Water - 250ml Strong White ... Read the complete review

Over the years I have always made bread the traditional way, kneading and pummelling to my hearts content, spreading flour liberally over the dough kitchen counter, the floor and of course myself. Usually resulting in a fine white misting and the knead (sic) for me to use Head and Shoulders shampoo. Now however things have changed in the Cata kitchen, after years of vowing to stick to traditional methods I have acquired a Prima home bakery. Why didn’t I succumb years ago, it has changed the way we prepare bread and certainly the clean up time is a fraction of my previous efforts. How did it happen this conversion on the road to Damascus? ... Read the complete review
