      brownie maker by Proline

I was given this brownie maker as a Christmas present which was a very nice surprise as I am very into my baking. I have never heard of the Proline brand before so wasn't sure what to expect. Also, with it being a brownie maker I wasn't really expecting them to turn out that great as I don't believe in relying on these to get the best possible tasting baking but I'm always willing to give everything a try. The machine itself does look quite nice though and is a handy little gadget for the kitchen.

The brownie maker comes in a big box and included in this are instructions and a book that has some recipes you may want to use to get brownies out of it. The instructions for this are really quite straightforward you just have to make sure you read the instructions before you know what you are doing. The actual appliance itself is like a George Foreman it is a square red device that opens and inside are 6 deep squares indented on both sides and you close the lid down to make the brownies.

To begin with I wanted to look up how to use the machine first but it didn't take long to figure out. Basically you should find a brownie mixture recipe first before you start switching anything on. I didn't really like the looks of the recipes that came with this so I went on the BBC Good Food website to get a recipe, this is where I came across a mixture that was nice. It had high ratings so I chose this one and once I had my mixture ready, I turned on the machine to get the heat going.

Once you turn the machine on, you just need to wait for the light to go green as it has a red light on at the same time. Once the light is green you can start to spoon your mixture into the squares. Don't fill it too high though as you find it rises quite high. The brownies do cook quick so try and get the mixture in as quick as you can so that they all cook at around the same time. Once you have all six squares filled, close the lid and leave the brownies to get cooking. I left them in for ten minutes to give them a good time to cook.

Once they are cooking steam filters out of the machine and they create a really nice smell. The green light goes on and off at times this is just to show that when it is green, the machine is at the right temperature. The brownies should be checked at about ten minutes as by now they will have risen, don't open the lid too early or the brownies will sink which will not look as good. I tested my brownies were ready by putting a fork in the middle and when it came out clean I knew they were done so really just over ten minutes was perfect timing.

The brownie maker cooks the brownies so quickly, this is what I love and when you think they are ready, turn the machine off. The heat inside it is very, very hot so be carefully and use a knife to knock the brownie out of the squares but watch not to burn your fingers. Once the brownies come out, they will be perfect little squares and they do look very professional. I made these for a party and people thought they were store bought, so it must have been a success. I do feel it is all about the mixture as to how perfect you get them but my mixture turned out well.

Making six at a time may mean you take ages to use up all of your mixture as I got 18 made from mine but you can go away and come back while cooking. It really is easy to use this machine and the results are impressive, I enjoyed my own brownies which says a lot coming from me. If you drip mixture onto the machine while cooking, it comes off easily and if it has cooked on the metal, then just use a knife to clean it and give it a wipe with a cloth just to make sure that it is fully clean.

The machine is great fun to use and I love the look of it and everything. I love making brownies now as they are perfect for a dinner party or to make for a party. This machine is a lovely gift idea and it is also nice just to have in the kitchen as it speeds up the cooking process and just helps with the shape. The fact you can make cakes, cupcakes and other items as well as just brownies is great as it makes the machine even more versatile. The machine is very easy to store away as it isn't too big.

This machine I got it from Comet but I noticed that it was recently on special offer for £4.99 there which is a really fantastic price.
