Advantages: Asthetically pleasing

Disadvantages: Burning smell of the motor

We purchased this 'smoothie maker' around a month ago and we've had a mixed experience...

The asthetics of the machine are great, looks nice on the kitchen worktop and is fairly compact. The 3 buttons make this a really simple thing to use and had an extra blitz button for ice. Unfortunatley for us, these points are the only good ones.

We found assembling the smoothie maker, fairly easy, as we had bought t from Amazon (I think someone had returned it because it was mostly built) but trying to get the bits off to clean them was a nightmare.

We have used the smoothie maker for a few things, with varying success. Fair or not for a smoothie maker, I wanted to blend things to make a marinade which stained the bottom of the jug. We made smoothies, a lot of the fruit wasn't blended properly and was really a mash of fruit at the bottom and to top it all, the motor made a strange noise and produced a strange almost burning smell.

I feel that this particular smoothie maker is overproced for what it is (we paid £45) and there are cheaper, simpler options that do a better job.

And it doesn't crush ice well either!!

Summary: An expensive kitchen toy that isn't that good.

What a pity. My Cookworks version is this very same model and its a little cracker - and it crushes ice - but all smoothies do need a little water to get ice going generally.
