Advantages: Compact machine
Disadvantages: not ideal for two sandwhiches at one time
As a student, im a huge fan of the appliances which allow me to cheat in the kitchen. The microwave and George Foremann grill are my greatest allies in the kitchen and now I have a new one. After months of toasting my bread in the toaster and then making a sandwhich out of that, I decided it would be well worth buying a sandwhich toaster. Although I could have got a cheaper model, I stuck with a brand I knew, as I have always trusted the brand name Russell Hobbs. I was not disappointed by either the price or efficentcy of the machine.
APPEARENCE:
This sandwhich maker has a universal look that will not clash with any kitchen. However if you do not like the stainless steel and black finish the machine is compact enough to store away and only get out when it is needed.
PRICE:
This machine ranges in price from around £15 (the price I got it for) to atleast double that. I belive it is just under £20 on Amazon at the moment.
NEGATIVES:
This is meant to be able to do two rounds of sandwiches at once but in reality doesn't if you buy a standard loaf. It doesn't close very easily when the bread is inside...got to put a lot of pressure on lid for the catch to hold. Otherwise couldn't really ask for more.
POSITIVES:
In my sandwhich I tend to try and stuff in as many fillings as possible, and not once has this toaster complained. It is quite quick for a budget model, and is easy to clean as I've had no problems with the non-stick plates. Overall I am very happy with it. Looks great in my kitchen and takes up little storage. The toaster leaves the bread nicely golden and fluffy, just the way I like it.
Overall, this machine is perfect for me and I would defenitly recommend it to students as toasted sandwhiches are easy and cheap to make but great treats and the price of this machine is no way extortionate. I however would not recommend this machine for families, because although it claims to be able to make two sandwhiches, from my experience it works best with only one at a time.
I would give this an overall rating of 4/5.
Summary: student-friendly but not family friendly.
