This was on our wedding gift list because my husband is addicted to cheese toasties and I would use it for the grill.
We use it mainly as a Panini press, it has a handle on that you press the bread in between so you get a nice squished sandwich and the tasty looking bar marks like you do on a bought Panini.
If you want to use it as a griddle it is as simple as opening it up like a book. It is a chic looking chrome and black finish which goes well with my kitchen so I can leave it out on the worktop making it easy to use, no hunting in cupboards.
I find it easy to clean all you need to do is let it cool down first then wipe it with a clean damp cloth then wash the drip tray in hot soapy water with your other washing up. It can also go in the dishwasher so you don't have to do a hand wash separately just for this if all your other dishes go in the washer.
The appliance comes with a instruction booklet which includes some recipes for inspiration. It also has a long list of different types of food and their suggested cooking times. There's so many things you can put on the grill not just burgers or sandwiches. Most meat only takes 5-10 minutes so it's quick cooking meaning meat stays juicy and delicious. I was surprised by the variety of things you can cook on it, one of my favourites is pineapple to have on my chicken burger yummy :)
I have been thinking about getting a health grill for ages as we eat alot of chicken and have recently got an oven with an integrated grill. I was not overly impressed with the George Foreman and they are so expensive. When I found this one I really liked the idea.
The panini press is fantastic, it cooks the bread lovely and you get the nice brown lines printed. The cheese melts nicely and the filling is warm. I have not been very adventurous yet sticking to ham and cheese! It is also does a nice toasted sandwich without the hard crusts you get from a traditional sandwich maker.
The grill is great and is exactly what I wanted, it cooks chicken just right. It stays moist and tasty, with a slight crisp you expect from grilled chicken. Have also done burgers, sausages, kebabs and salmon, all with great results. It is quite scary to start with as you cant control the temperature but you soon get used to it. The drip tray works reasonably well, there is usually some fat that has missed it but it minimal and a small price to pay for it being integrated and to the back.
The griddle is a massive added bonus. Great for bacon and mushrooms. It is also handy if you want to do more than four burgers, it just means you have to turn them.
All in all very impressed although a pain to clean I am getting my moneys worth using it again and again.
