Advantages: Quick, Automatic switch, Reliable

Disadvantages: Materials deteriorate, Leaking, Poor choice of plastics

Lovely when new deteriorates fairly rapidly. Quick to boil and easy to clean but 18 months from manufacture the design and choice of materials has proven to be poor.
The large side windows, which once allowed excellent visibility, are now showing serious signs of imminent failure. They have now become very crazy paved and when the kettle is hot there is seepage between window and main body leaking into base.
The main body has become stained and the plastic is becoming pitted.
The kettle has only ever been used with filtered water and has never been abused, boiled dry or cleaned with anything nasty.
The heating element and switching is excellent but it is obviously a case of aesthetics over material choice.
Addendum:I now know of two other families who have Milleniums. One family got through three RH Milleniums and the other on their second in 18 months. All failures were window and base leaks. Mains power and water leaks... a lovely mix! Safety recall time Russell Hobbs? I think so.

Welcome to dooyoo, I noticed that you were a new member. Yeah - I've seen that kettle in lots of electrical shops and have often thought of purchasing one of those either the same or like it...thank goodness I didn't.

Hi and welcome to dooyoo!

How infuriating! I looked at this kettle a little while ago (finally settled for a Bosch) and thought it looked good. I'm glad I didn't get it now!

Enjoy dooyoo - it's fun. If you want any help about how to get the best out of dooyoo e mail me (addy on profile page) and I'll do my best to help.

Sue :)
