Advantages: Ability to weigh multiple Ingredients in one bowl
Disadvantages: N/A
I invested in a set of these kitchen scales after months of guestimating how much of each ingredient I should be putting in my cooking and baking and having started to make more breads, which were coming out the oven to mixed results, I thought it was time to get a set of scales.
I picked these scales up from one of the Tesco Home shops for £10 and I have been very impressed. The main two factors behind my purchase was the price, I felt that £10 was very reasonable for digital scales. The second factor was the manufacturer, Salter. From talking to the likes of my Mum, Salter's seem to be a good manufacturer of kitchen products and it would seem that mother does know best.
The scales are aesthetically pleasing and I will fit well in any kitchen as they are black in colour. There is a flat base and nice rounded edges. There is a 20mm digital LCD display, which is nice and clear to read and isn't too small and there are two buttons on the scales. One button lets you toggle between grams and ounces', depending on which way you are inclined and the other button is the on/zero button.
The way the scales are designed is that there you place a bowl or plate on to the scales, press the zero button, which resets the weight to zero and then add what you would like to weigh to the bowl or plate. I find this is also useful when baking as you can add multiple ingredients to the one bowl. I just pop my mixing bowl on the scales, press zero, add my flour, press zero, add my sugar, press zero and so on. I find that this causes less mess and fewer dishes which is always a bonus.
The scales are also nice and lightweight and compact to make storing them easy. The dimensions of the scales are 220 (w) x 220 (l) x 38 (h) mm so they won't take up much cupboard space.
These scales get the thumbs up from me. I have found that my bread has improved from being able accurately weigh my ingredients. £10 well spent.
Summary: Great set of digital scales
