Advantages: Colour, Sporty design, Cordless

Disadvantages: Dangerous, Dangerous, Dangerous

I didn’t keep my Swan kettle very long – it was dreadful. It was interesting to read the op from maggiemay as I encountered many of the same problems.

I chose this kettle because I had just re-decorated my kitchen in blue and yellow, so having a “mellow yellow” kettle just fitted the bill. Also it’s shape was nice with its curves and the fact that it was cordless – the main kettle sat on a heating plate from which the main cable came made it even more appealing.

Once I started using it however, I realised that however pretty it looked it was a devil to use. Even thought the fill indicator suggested you could fill it to a certain level, if you actually filled it to this level it would spit out boiling hot water when it boiled. Very dangerous.

After a few weeks the floaty ball in the fill indicator stopped floating, you therefore had to look closely to see where the water level really was.

Another really annoying feature is if you boil the kettle, then try to re-boil it a minute or so later it will not turn on again. You have to hold the rocker switch down with brute force to get it to re-boil.

I also found the actual pouring of the water to be a little tricky too. Because the kettle gently curves to the spout the weight of the water is not balanced when pouring and I found that sometimes the kettle would tip as I was pouring, causing boiling water to spill.

I managed to put up with this kettle for about three months, then could take no more and replaced it. I would not recommend anyone to buy this kettle. It is not only inconvenient but downright dangerous.

Thanks for the warning. I had similar pouring troubles with the Moulinex Lyris cordless kettle, which is also yellow and "banana shaped". When Dooyoo eventually add the category I will submit my opinion on it soon.
