Advantages: Quick to boil

Disadvantages: none

When my brother came to visit he complained his kettle no longer switched itself off and his kitchen was full of steam this was mainly due to the fact he usually falls asleep waiting for it to boil. So off we went to the nearest Currys for a replacement.

We were spoiled for the choice rows and rows of different kettles all sizes and prices it was hard to decide which would be best. After due deliberation we decided the Tefal Delfina Cordless Jug Kettle was the one and he duly parted with £17.99.

The kettle he chose was bright yellow to fit in with the green and yellow decor of his kitchen; the other colours available in store were dark green and white. Once home we decided to try it out to make sure everything worked properly as he stays 70 miles away if it needed to be returned.

Before you use it for the first time remember to remove all the packing materials and peel off any sticky labels; also check that the voltage marked corresponds to your supply. It is advisable to boil the kettle twice before using the water this thoroughly cleans the inside. This model has a water filter and this can be cleaned separately just by rinsing under the tap.

Like all electrical equipment you buy now the plug was already fitted so it just had to be plugged in. My first impression was how light it was and the chunky big handle on the side made it really easy to hold. Filling the kettle was simple the lid is hinged and lifts open to allow the water to be added effortlessly up to the maximum of 1.5 litres which is easy to see on the water level indicator on the side. Never fill the kettle while the unit is still in the base and always lift the kettle from the base before pouring.

With the base already plugged in its then only a case of putting the filled kettle back onto the power base and switching on. The kettle is only connected to the mains supply when it is on the power base and the switch is in the On position.

The ket
tle boiled very quickly and switched itself off everything worked perfectly.

It comes with an instruction book telling you how to clean the filter and also how to descale your kettle if you live in a hard water area. We don’t so this is not a problem he should have. There is also a section on problem solving and details of after care service.

To sum up this is a lovely looking kettle aesthetically pleasing to the eye which does its job quickly and efficiently. I would recommend this kettle both on looks and price I only have one problem how to swap it and put my old one in his luggage.!!
