Tefal are almost synonymous with non-stick pans, in the same way that hoover stopped being a brand name and became the machine itself. I didn't know that Tefal also make other things, including toasters. Mine was a gift, and has proved to be a valuable addition to my kitchen, and not just nice and shiny. Aren't all toasters pretty much the same? Well, I used to think so and I wouldn't have splashed out on a deluxe one. It's only since using this one that I have realised it has plenty of advantages over a regular toaster. It's a four slot toaster, but the four slots are in two lots of two - meaning you can cook yourself two slices to have now, and ... Read the complete review

With five of us at home there is just no point in getting any less than a four slice toaster, but I seemed to be buying a new one every two to three years which was starting to add up. Then about four years ago I bought the Tefal Avanti deluxe four slice toaster and its still going strong. Amazingly in this time not even a wee knob has fallen off or a piece of writing rubbed off. I was firstly attracted to the look of it, its really futuristic with its curvy slanted build and silver and black body. The deal maker was the fact that Amazon were doing it for £19.99 with free delivery and I had seen it in the local cookware shop at £39.99. There are ... Read the complete review

Having a fairly large family (who all like toast) I finally decided it was time to buy an electric toaster. Up until now, I had got by using the grill on my cooker, but it was becoming an increasingly time consuming process to prepare enough toast for everybody in the house. My actual requirements were fairly basic, any toaster I bought would have to be able to cook 4 slices at once, be silver in colour (to match the rest of my kitchen appliances) and be as cheap as possible. The Tefal Avanti Deluxe four slice toaster fulfilled all these criteria, and a little more besides, and at £24.99 in Argos it was an absolute bargain that I simply couldn't miss. Colour ... What a fantastic toaster! I have always had a four slice toaster, and up until recently had a long narrow one where there are two long slots and the slices fit next to each other. I had started to get fed up with my old toaster because you could never get anything thicker than medium sliced bread in it, and when I wanted to toast my "thin" bread and my husband wanted thick bread I had to do it separately. Also, the old toast didn't have a crumb tray, the crumbs just fell out of the bottom so I had to clean them up every time. So, I decided to get a new toaster. They had a couple of these toasters in the canteen at my work, and I thought ... Read the complete review

Like other reviewers on this forum, I have found the Avanti toaster to be extremely bad value. I bought it a couple of years ago - it broke almost immediately and since then the performance has declined. The toaster does not toast evenly, heating more on one side of the toasting slot than the other. The toasting slots are not quite big enough to take the larger loaf sizes. In addition the button to make the toast pop up after toasting broke quite quickly. On the plus side, two crumb trays at the back of the toaster make cleaning easy, although all of the crumbs do not always fall down into them, making traditional turning upside down and banging ...
