Advantages: cheap, non stick plate, grills well
Disadvantages: non variable temperature, non removable plates
This is a good value health grill from Tesco, with a non stick cooking surface. The grill makes eating healthier as it cooks out all the fat from the food as it drips towards the bottom which can be caught in a tray. It also comes with a spatula.
The design is quite basic, it has a silver design with a red and green light at the top to indicate when it is hot enough so that it is ready to use. The surface can be lifted up to get access to the cooking plate which in black with vertical strips for the grilling panels. It is at a slight angle so the fat doesn't stay arounf the food surface and drips toward the bottoms, which can be caught in a plastic drip tray.
In terms of grilling I think it works really well, especially for the price you are paying. Simple wait for the light to turn green after turning it on, as this means that the plates are hot enough and it is ready to start cooking on. Then just place the food you want to grill on the cook plates close the lid, and wait. You don't have to turn it over as it has plates on the top and bottom. It grill the food well and you can see the amount of fat it loses as it fall down into the drip tray, so its good to visibly see the amount of fat it lost, than if you cooked it differently. The food cooks well and tastes nice after it is made. It has a non-stick tray with for the most part works well as I don't have too much trouble gets the food off, although when I've tried to make sausages it seems to be a bit sticky, but isn't too bad.
Unfortunately the cooking plates aren't removable so they can be washed in the dishwasher, so will have to be done be hand, and is also less easy than washing in the sink.
The cooking plates a big enough to cook 4 chicken breast, so it the right size for a family of 4, anything more than that and you will be struggling to get everything on, and may have to make 2 batches.
The product also has no variable temperature, so you just have to cook it on the temperature it says, which for me is good enough, but if you like to follow recipes close to the book, you will have to do with the temperature the grill is set at. 9unfortunately I don't know what it is, but seems to be hot enough and at a temperature you would expect.
The price for this product is £13.49 from Tesco, and is great price, as many grills can be quite expensive and this one works more than good enough, for me anyway.
Overall this is a good product and grilling food really well. Non removable plates is a bit annoying but that's the only really downside that bothered me. Otherwise for the price you are paying this is really good and worth buying.
Summary: well worth the money
