And for those who worry about leaving it on while you are out, dont, you leave your fridge on all day every day, and this uses less electricity. I love the fact that this is easy to clean the dish in the middle can be taken out to serve the meal at the table, or put in the oven for when making lasagnes etc and you want to give it a golden topping. it has 3 heat settings, l...more

Crowned Review Tesco SC356 Slow Cooker: Gimme some slow cookin' (1143 words)

I like nothing better than to be able to bung a few things in a casserole dish, forget it for a few hours and then come back to find a well cooked casserole or stew. In a conventional oven, it is, of course, possible to cook a perfectly good casserole. However, I have always found that, when cooking beef in particular, it is hard to cook the meat at a low enough temperature to make it tender without burning. A slow cooker, although probably not a vital piece of kitchen equipment, is therefore a very welcome addition to my kitchen. Why I chose this model To be honest, price is the main reason. It is available online from Tesco for just £19.96 at the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A must for winter! (301 words)

In the winter months a slow cooker is an ideal thing to have, as so much ofthe food you can make with them could be described as warm comfort food. The Tesco slow cooker is very simple to use and could also be described as 'easy on the eye' It has a functional stainless steel design, which is very easy to wipe clean and the parts that come out (the dish and the lid!) are very well made an easy to wipe clean. Although it obviously gets hot it doesn't feel to me that it could be a health and safety nightmare, but it is worth remembering that parts do get hot and caution should be taken, especially if you have young children. I use the slow ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco SC356 Slow Cooker: A Quick Fix (606 words)

Slow cookers are ideal for people who lead busy lives, juggling family meals when you work work isn't always easy. If you prepare a stew and cook it on the top of the hob then you have to be there to keep an eye on it, but a slow cooker takes care of itself. As long as I have a slow cooker that is functional that's all that I ask. Tesco have a vast range of competitively priced electrical goods and I ordered this slow cooker from Tesco Direct online. Its not the Rolls Royce of slow cookers but it does the job well, the one little extra that I might have liked would have been a timer and if I had given it a lot more forethought I could have ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Taking it slowly.. (607 words)

A few weeks ago I read a review on here about the Tesco 3.3 litre capacity slow cooker. As it was on half price at just £9.96 I decided to buy one. I did own a slow cooker in the distant past but a friend managed to drop and break the bowl and I had been meaning to replace it ever since. What you get for your money. ************************* The Tesco slow cooker comes in 3 parts. There is a brushed stainless steel base unit that contains the heating element. A 3.3 litre ceramic brown bowl and a glass lid. For something so cheap I was very impressed with the look of this slow cooker. The cooker is oval in shape and does not take up too ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco SC356 Slow Cooker: A bargain way to cheaper meals (861 words)

I have used a slow cooker for years and love it as a means of using cheaper cuts of meat which are absolutely delicious when cooked slowly. I have a small slow cooker which I use a lot but when I am doing 'batch' cooking to freeze down I can quite easily fill that one to the brim which is what made me wonder about getting a full sized one. I was doing a quick 'top up' shop in Tesco this week when I saw this model on offer at half the usual price - it was for sale for under £10 so I was unable to resist buying it, well to be honest I actually bought two as I have a colleague who has been thinking of getting one so I thought it would make an excellent early ...  Read the complete review
