I bought my Tesco Value steamer in the Summer of 2008 as I was starting to make food for my baby son and knew that steaming vegetables was the best, most nutritious way of cooking them.

The steamer was a reasonable price and has done exactly what it says it will. It is easy to clean and cooks quickly compared to my Mums "better" more expensive steamer.

However, over Christmas I found the steamer wasn't cooking as quickly and Christmas day we ended up having quite hard vegetables. It has now stopped cooking altogether and I think we will need to get a new steamer.

I was really pleased at first with the steamer but am now left wondering if we'd have paid more to start with, would we now still have a working steamer rather than a broken one just 7 months on?

With regards to the functions of the steamer, it is a basic white model with two trays and a lid. You simply lift the trays up and pour water in (it's a bit of guess work how much you need but there is a max fill line). You then turn the dialer to the time (5-60 mins I think).

I will speak to Tesco about my steamer breaking and hopefully they'll be able to do something to help me. Great steamer for the money though and hopefully, mine was a one off!

Summary: Potentially a bargain!
