Apple iPhone 3G 16 GB
Advantages: Great features, good as a phone and an ipod
Disadvantages: battery life is pretty rubbish if you use the internet frequently
I have had my iphone for over a year now and I still love it.
My husband has the upgraded 3GS iphone and I have to say it is a bit better but there is not a huge difference, I will upgrade to it though when the opportunity arises.
Anyway, the 3G regular iphone is still brilliant. You can store photos and contacts and loads of different stuff and still not fill the memory up. The camera is good quality and you can send picture messages or attach photos to emails really easily.
The only thing that takes up a lot of memory is itunes, so I can't have my whole itunes library on my phone but I have various play lists and still have hundreds of tracks to choose from. The 3GS has a bigger memory so this isn't a problem.
With this iphone you can download applications, such as games, banking etc, the list is really endless, and I have had no problems with any applications, but most of the ones I download are the free ones.
The most annoying thing about the iphone and I think it is still the case with the 3GS is that you can't make any of your itunes your ringtones, you have to have one of a pitiful choice of ringtones. It's not a major flaw, just something that I find a tad annoying as I hate the mobile sounding ringtones.
There are so many great features about the iphone, I'm not going into detail about them all but I particularly like the weather app, that comes with the phone, in which you can store various locations to see what the weather is in that place.
The battery life of iphones is notoriously bad, so if you are a constant internet browser then your battery will not last for long, a couple of days at the most, but if you use it mostly as a phone and browse the internet occasionally, it will last a lot longer, which I think is a real flaw as it's made and sold on the fact that internet usage is so easy to do on it.
You can link this iphone with your email account and it's really easy to set up, and browsing the internet is a doddle (if you have a connection, it's very rare that you can't access the internet).
As a phone I find this iphone great. It's so easy to make calls, and you can store contacts into a favourites folder which I use all the time, as it saves scrolling through the contacts. You can assign a picture to each contact if you wish, and this doesn't use up all the memory.
The iphone is also great as an ipod. You can just plug in your headphones, press a button and your music is all there, the earphones do have a speaker in them too, so if someone calls while you are listening you don't have to unplug your headphones. You can use the iphone to play music too without the headphones but the sound quality isn't great so I would recommend a docking station if you want to play your music loudly.
There is also a button on the side of the iphone which trns it to silent, this is so handy, rather than having to scroll through menus and choose a silent option you can just flick a button.
I really love my iphone and I will upgrade to the newer one when my contract allows. If you are considering getting an iphone I would say do it. I don't know anyone who has regretted getting one, just make sure you know where your charger is at all times!
Summary: Brilliant phone.
