I have always used pay as you go rather than pay monthly as I prefer to know what my bill as as I go along. When the iphone came out I was so excited and decided to pre order it.

To my disappointment it was only available on contract from Orange - monopoly or what! I was determined to stick to O2 pay as you go, so when I discovered that the iPhone was available in the O2 shop, in October I rushed down and bought myself one.

I paid around £370 for my iPhone which seemed very expensive at the time, however it is pay as you go and I got £70 credit back to use and free unlimited internet for a year if I top up £15 a month.

I am not yet sure what the catch is (if any) for the free internet, as there are so many places where you can use wi-fi, I very rarely use my O2 internet connection anyway, the only place that I can think off I mainly use it is in the car and if O2 decide to charge anything over £5 a month for unlimited internet on the iPhone after my year is up then I am afraid that I will do without it.

In my own home or at a friends house, it is really easy to take the code of their broadband box (with their permission of course) and connect through it. Most people do not have a problem with this as they pay a flat fee every month anyway. Failing that, internet is free in many airports and everyday places such as McDonalds, Starbucks etc.

The iPhone itself:

I am pleased to say that the iPhone is the best phone I have ever owned with out a doubt, however I would recommend it to my brother but not my mother, the reason for this is that my mum like many people only uses a mobile to text, make calls and take the odd photograph. If this is what you normally use your phone for then do not buy the iPhone as it will be a waste of money.

The reason why I said that I would recommend it to my brother is because he is like me, he loves gadgets and gaming and the iPhone is full of applications to keep you entertained for hours.

Called the iPhone after the iPod touch, I have to say when you first get the iPhone, the iPod is the last thing that I wanted to look at as there was so much more on the iPhone.

The iPhone is basically all touch, it has a big screen and you touch it to text, make calls, take pictures, play music and play games. This was the first touch phone that I had ever owned and in my opinion it is very sensitive but not over sensitive, it is very easy to make a phone call on, you just hit a button and a little keypad comes up on the screen and you touch what numbers you want to call.

The camera on the iPhone is quite good, there are not really any functions on it such as flash etc and if you want a big powerful camera with lots of functions on your phone then the iPhone is not for you.

The sim card in the iPhone is a bit of a nightmare to get in and out, you get a little pin with the phone and you have to hoke the pin into a hole and pull the little tray out that the sim card sits on, personally I think that this is a bit primitive for a nearly £400 phone and the guy in the O2 shop told me that if you are not careful with the pin you can destroy the phone! Thank god I do not have to take my sim card in and out that often!

The iPhone is a whole unit so you cannot see, take out or fiddle with the battery. Personally I find this a bonus as it keeps dirt out of the device.

You can download lots of different applications (apps) for the iPhone, it is easy to do, just browse through what you want and download it from games to guides to a torch, there is something for everyone. The games are very addictive though and I find myself spending a lot of time on my iPhone playing games, you can also play online against people which I love too.

In summary the iPhone is a great phone, very easy to use and the best phone I have ever had. If you are going to use it to the full, then get it, it is expensive but worth every penny!

5/5
