Well, what can I say?! The true cause for me to purchase this handset was because 1) I was having problems with my current phone company, and 2) my brother bought one and I fell in love!
The phone can be bought from a variety of retailers and is soon meant to be coming available on other networks such as Orange. I happened to buy mine from my local Carphone Warehouse :).
Unlike the vast majority of mobile phones on the market, the iPhone comes in a box only a tiny amount longer/wider than the phone itself. Upon opening the box, your iPhone 3GS is lying face up all shiny and beautiful! The first thing I was in awe at was its appearance, the handset is quite large, but it is very well put together. I chose the black version and the phone just looks so lovely when you first pull it out of the box!
The sim card is quite difficult to insert(so I hear) but the chap in the store did mine for me! You need a pin to draw out a little tray, which you slot your sim into. Following this its time to turn it on!! This actually took me quite a long time to figure out as there are only three buttons on the whole thing.
Inside the box is an apple sticker, leaflet or two and your charger/USB cable. The two become one in terms of the USB port plugging into the bottom of the plug, as well as a computer port, and the other end into your new handset. I love the way apple even have a different shaped plug and charger design, a very small point but something I really did notice!
It is very easy to download music/videos/photos onto and the quality truly is superb. You have internet access literally wherever you go and can download a phenominal amount of applications such as games, reminders, tools etc.
As for the downside, the camera is just 3MP which isn't good enough for some, but I have to say that it is plenty for me. The photos come out very well, its just a shame you can't edit them on the handset itself very easily.
Also, at least in the black shade, finger prints show up easy on the phone (back and front) and it scratches VERY easily, hence why I have a cover for mine. It is expensive, but I believe very worth it!
Summary: Worth it IMO :)
