It seems a lot of people are switching to the iPhone (and reviewing about them!). I too made the switch and thought I would give a comprehensive review of my experience so far.
I purchased my iPhone from Orange.co.uk on their pay monthly plan. I am paying the £35 a month so my phone only cost £89 which is very good in my opinion as on their own an iPhone's base price is £349 for pay as you go! So pay monthly is definitely recommended for those who are able to keep up with the payments.
The product was delivered quickly after ordering and even a day early! The iPhone arrived in it's own little box and didn't seem to waste packaging like most products do. In the box was the following items:
-Instructions and manuals
It was incredibly easy to get the iPhone up and running, I inserted the SIM card and registered the product online and was away.
The App Store:
This is the place where you get the apps to install on the phone, there are some that you pay for but there are plenty that are for free. I installed Facebook, twitter and a variety of others and it was very straight forward. There are a few apps though that are for over eighteens so parents may want to be wary of these as there do seem to be quite a few of them.
I mostly got the 16GB size as I knew I would be making use of the iPod feature. I have so far used iTunes to load on music, movies, and audiobooks. I have been listening to audiobooks recently with the headphones and the sound quality is fantastic. The headphones come with a button control that adjust the volumes which is a brilliant addition so that you don't have to log on to your phone every time you want to change the volume. The video quality is also good as well, it is understandably a small screen but it comes in handy when you're travelling and definitely helps passes the time.
You can also play the music and videos without the headphones although the sound does dip when you move the iPhone so it's best to keep it in one place.
Because I am on Orange I'm covered on the 3G network, the network sets itself up automatically and pretty much every site is accessible on the internet. You also have the option to set up your default email account so that you can easily access it from the docked icon on your phone that's right next to the call button.
The sound quality on the iPhone is like it is on the iPod, incredibly clear. Out of the handful of calls I've made I've had no troubles hearing the other person and vise versa. I have also been able to use the speakerphone option without the other person having to hear themselves on my end. Voice feedback from speakerphone is not something that is in the iPhones terminology!
Understandably the battery life falls quickly if you use Youtube or the internet a lot as well as playing videos but because you have a portable plug that fits into any woman's handbag you can charge up your phone wherever there maybe a spare plug. You can also charge it up exactly how you would charge up an iPod and it lasts for most of the day if it's being used fairly.
I am very happy that I made the switch to the iPhone. No longer will I have to worry about running out of credit or getting lost in the middle of the city (thanks to the map feature). The Apps are a great addition and there's so many to choose from!
The only things to watch out for are:
-You need iTunes to register your phone
-My phone seems to think it's in Chicago and I'm having issues keeping it on the London time zone
But if you're thinking of making the switch don't hesitate! I love this little phone and it's going to be a great help in my day to day life. I can even check dooyoo on it and keep up on returning all of those ratings as well as reading other reviews with a lot of ease.
Summary: Great device that's easy to learn and easy to use.
The texting system is really easy to use, you have a standard keyboard and use it almost like you would a keyboard. Messages are sent incredibly quick and you don't have to wait around for them.
For the package I signed up with I get unlimited texts, unlimited internet and 1600 minutes
Summary: Great phone that's leading the way
