Advantages: Good internet access, easy to use, vast array of apps available
Disadvantages: Bad camery quality and easily drained battery
I'm quite a loyal customer when it comes to Apple and have owned a version of the iPhone since the first was released. Having lost my iPhone 3G which had given me pretty much everything I had desired in a phone, I decided it was time for the next generation.
One of the main appeals of the iPhones is that they are very easy to use and very easy to get accustomed to. The iPhone 4 is no exception. The touch screen is very receptive and only a very light tap is required for use; so there is no need to frustratedly bash the screen which I found with previous touch screen phones. It's also very fast in terms of response and always responds at the same speed I touch it - this is a lot better than some of the previous touch screen phones I had before the iPhones which used to lag behind.
The phone however does feel a little heavy, especially for me when I'm on the treadmill in the gym for example, it can get very annoying with deep pockets. But this is quite a minor problem and these days most smartphones do tend to be quite heavy.
In terms of features, the iPhone has a vast array of them. From easy internet access via 3G and wifi as well as an inbuilt MP3 player, to the huge range of apps available from the app store, (the iphone having the most apps available of any smartphone) the iPhone 4 allows its owner to check emails, go on Facebook, play games, watch videos on Youtube, watch the news, check the weather and much more. It also has a camera, although this is only 5 megapixels and so is pretty poor quality. In bright conditions it can take decent photos however at night the picture quality is always dire and this is even worse in nightclubs.
The battery life of the phone isn't too great either and I have to charge it pretty much every day which can get annoying. I often find myself having to turn off 3G which tends to drain battery, just so that I don't have to charge it for one day. This is probably the most irritating problem, but I've gotten used to it now and with the range of features the iPhone provides it isn't too surprising that the battery life isn't amazing
Overall I think it's definitely a step up from the 3G and I've grown to love the iPhone 4 despite the little glitches. I would really recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it out yet.
Summary: A few problems, but these are outweighed by the advantages.
