Apple iPhone 4S 16 GB
Advantages: improved camera, SIRI, increased battery life, capacitive touchscreen
Disadvantages: still no flash agreement, micro sim card, still a bit too square
The iPhone 4S has its lovers and its haters. Some people are anti capitalist and so try to make a point of how evil the mighty Apple corporation is. Ignore this. Instead embrace the technological change that Apple has brought to the world. The revolutionary iPhone just got upgraded to the 4S with one dominant new feature which has people walking around talking to their phones like a loved member of the family!
SIRI, quite possibly the most fun thing that Apple has developed in a while, still in BETA testing mode but rolled out to all users of the 4S is the iPhones personal assistant. Go ahead ask it what the weather is like, ask it what 4 X 4 is, even ask it to work out how many Chinese Yuan you get for £36.72 and it will tell you by finding the info out on its own initiative. I have spent countless hours talking to SIRI getting it to put down dates for my diary, give me reminders, check texts whilst I'm driving and the like.
The capacitive screen the iPhone uses still has an amazing reaction speed and is much better than the other alternative smart phones which only have the pressure sensitive screens. The improved gyroscope the iPhone 4S uses also makes gaming more fun whilst introducing you to a whole new world of crazy and fun apps available from the app store.
The iPhone looks as sexy as it's predecessor the iPhone 4 however I still prefer the curved back of the 3GS instead of the crisp edges that the iPhone 4 and 4S employs. I just think it makes it easier to hold and is more of a natural resting position in your hand.
No issues with the aerial transmission on this model unlike the previous incarnation, it works pretty much straight out of the box. The micro sim card it uses though is a big problem for those that want to go travelling and use local sim cards especially in countries where micro sim cards are hard to come by, and as this bit of kit is invaluable for a translator and communication device you can argue that Apple possibly didn't think everything through.
All in all though I'm not sure what I would do without my iPhone, it pretty much does everything I need from it, games, apps, currency conversions, translations, photos, plays music and videos, ebook reader etc a travellers dream tool!
Summary: A great communicative device which should solve most peoples everyday needs from such devices
