Advantages: Refreshed due to iOS 7
Disadvantages: poor chargers
I bought the iPhone 5 as an upgrade from an iPhone 4. The slimness of the handset and the increased screen size are the first obvious differences between the handset but further probing reveals more changes. In contrast to previous apple devices, the iPhone 5 has a new charging port which not only makes a difference to the way the phone charges but the way the phone attaches to a music dock. The majority of docks support the 30 pin connection but this phone requires a new adapter which costs approximately £25. Another improvement to the phone is the quality of the camera, it is 8 megapixel which produces sharper picture results. In relation to the charger, the build quality is poor and broke after only 3 months of use, replacement ones fair no better. Another disadvantage of this phone is the poor battery life. An improvement to older iPhones is the improved sound quality.
Although the initial use of the phone is not that impressive, the release of iOS 7 has brought a new lease of life to the phone. The new features such as the scroll up and scroll down menus with additional shortcuts make the use of the phone much easier when in lock mode, it makes checking your calendar much simpler. The fact that more apps can be placed in folders also make the organizing folders easier. A continued disadvantage is that music needs to be uploaded via iTunes.
Although there are flaws with the product, the familiar interface makes it easy to use.
Summary: Great user interface but price is not justified
