Advantages: Sleek and stylish, built in iPod, fantastic phone

Disadvantages: On screen keyboard for SMS is quite tricky.

If you like your phones, sleek, smooth, stylish and full of gadgets, then the Apple iPhone is definately for you.

I bought it for my boyfriend for his main present for Christmas, it took a fair while to save up for, as they retail at well over £300. I paid just over £350, which seems steep, but it was worth it. Like most men, my boyfriend likes his gadgets, his iPod broke on him about 2 months before christmas, so I thought this would be the ideal Christmas present.

With its sleek and flush scratch resistent touch screen, everything is controlled by the touch of your fingertips.
It comes complete with an 8gb memory, which is plenty, my boyfriend has filled about 4gb of his up with music, and has hundreds of tracks on there.

You can hook up to the internet wirelessly on the iPhone, with its 3G technology, you can download games and applications from the iTunes website onto your phone, or even download music, or videos. There are thousands of games on the itunes store, and not all of them cost money, there are hundreds of free ones available to download. From arcade games, action, to word games and games for the kids.

The touch screen is made of scratch resistent glass, and is 3.5inches in size.
The battery is built into the phone, and can't be removed. The average life of a fully charged battery is around 24hours of music, or 5 hours browsing the web on Wi-Fi or 6 hours of talk time. So its quite a good long lifed battery.
The iPhone also has a 2 megapixel Camera, the only downside of the camera is it doesn't have a flash or light source, so taking pictures at night time is useless. It still takes great quality pictures in good light, which can easily be transfered to your computer or laptop, using the USB cable that comes free with the iPhone.
The USB connector is also how you transfer all your music from iTunes, it's just the same as doing it on an iPod.

The home screen on the iPhone consists of a few default icons including ; SMS (text messaging ) Calender, Camera, Photos, YouTube, Stocks, Google Maps, Weather, The iTunes applications store (App. Store). Clock (with alarm functions), Calculator, Notes and Settings. You can have up to 4 full screens worth of applications and items on your iphone, with a swift flick of the finger across the screen, it scrolls through all of your applications.

The phone comes free with a USB connector and charger, and a pair of white headphones for the iPod function, and for handsfree calls.
The iPod part of the phone is just like a regular iPod, you can turn the phone on its side, to view all of your albums on the phone, and the functions of the buttons on screen are pretty self explanitory. Volume controll is on the top left hand side of the phone, but can also be changed by using the main touch screen.

Thats another great feature of the phone, when using certain features like email, web browsing or watching a video, you can tilt the phone on its side, and the page your viewing or video your watching, flips with you so you can watch it horizontally.

Because the phone is all touch screen, there is no actual keyboard to type text messages, or emails, and this is the only drawback with the phone. It takes quite a bit of getting used to, to typing messages using the touch screen. The virtual keyboard on screen is quite small, and the letters quite close together, so you can end up with quite a few spelling mistakes if your finger touches the letter next to the one you were inititally trying to press. However my boyfriend hasn't had any trouble with that, it might just be me.

It's alot more simple to make a call than a text message. Your phonebook is easy to access and the whole screen is utilised for the keypad, making the numbers big enough to press, unlike the tiny virtual sms keyboard.
The built in speaker makes calls crystal clear when you have a good signal obviously. The volume controls are on the side of the phone, so you can turn it up during your call, or theres a loudspeaker feature on the main touch screen.

Overall this is a cracking phone, I just wish I'd had enough money to buy myself one aswell as my boyfriend. So many great features, as well as a built in iPod, its a fantastic piece of technology, Apple never fail to impress.
It's a bit on the expensive side, but totally worth it.

You can pick up an 8gb Black iPhone on Pay as you Go with O2 for around £340 from the Carphone Warehouse, and O2 stores.

Thanks for reading :)

Summary: Fantastic piece of kit.
